I playback through Windows media player and Realplayer.
Some play OK some do not is it a memory thing?

More a CPU thing. Decompressing MPEG-2 files (DVD files) requires a good processor. If your computer is not fast enough, it won't keep up.

Nope, nothing wrong with your memory. It's either a scratched DVD or your drive is getting sleepy. When drives begin to wear out they can't spin cds/dvds as quickly, and if you're watching a movie, it'll get all jittery and lag.
