there are usually transitional services that ex-cons have access to--i know that there is a Catholic job training class that operates on the near South Side (or did--don't ask me a name) that can help direct to employers who don't have biases against people rejoining society.

in other words, i don't have specific ideas, but this person should ask at the religious social services, or really exhaust the public agencies designed to help ex-cons out. the Catholics are probably a good bet.
