i suggest you go see your family doctor so he could recommend a neurologist you can see.

I do that too. It's horrible.
I thought it was some mild form of OCD but now i've been thinking about attention or learning disorders. So I hope more people answer lol.
Is it an attention thing for you? Because I know that it is actually a legitimate way of memorising/understanding stuff. Maybe you just don't have enough confidence in your ability to interpret what you've read and so take longer to move on.

Some things you can do are highlighting important passages, summarizing using stickey notes, and creating creative correlations to words that help you remember it.
Highlighting makes you stay focuses as you are looking for important information. It can be of great assistance when you need to review just before the big test.
Stickey notes help at the end of chapters. Summarize the chapter on them and stick it at the end of the chapter, so you can come back to it at review time. This way, all you have to do is read the stickey notes to recall the information.
Lastly, the word correlation is the best trick in the book. For example, I had to learn the word Loquacious, which means to speak excessively. Therefore, I figured loquacious kind of sounds like liquor, so too much liquor makes us loquacious. You can do this with almost every word to assist in memorization.
The key is to make the information meaningful to your own life; then, it will be easier to absorb. These are just a few strategies. Good luck.

That happend to me when I delivered my twins 2 years ago. I was so tired I could not focus and concentrate on anything. Probably you are tired, just take a good rest to clear up your mind and start preparing your exam. If it doesn't help you than try some tablets containing ginko biloba!

I have always had this problem it has been described as my learning style and i hate it. The older i got the worse it got. Your problem could come from a range of problems. Anything from mental illiness to not having the proper diet. You have to look deeper into the problem and pull your answer from there.

This issue doesn't belong in this category. Perhaps you have more on your plate than you can handle at the moment. If there is a lot going on your life that may be causing undue stress, try to eliminate as much as you can. Your mind may be on overload.

Check your diet isnt affecting your memory, if you are sensitive to wheat, sugar, or smoke too much dope then your memory will suffer badly. Rosemary tea has been used for literally thousands of years to help memory (Greek and Roman students used it alot) and rosemary essential oil can help you focus. Alos, check you study at the best time of day for you, personally, I was best at about 6am so I used to get up early to do my essays, I was useless after dinner.

Are doing anything new since? Try doing smaller tasks and not concentrating on the whole problem/situation.

I would talk to your regular doctor, and maybe see a psychiatrist. Perhaps you would need medication to help you focus. Do you remember anything pertinent that might have caused this change? If so, I would certainly mention it.
