Because they feel that the risks are worth the rewards. Gas stations, and hotels are high traffic, frequently robbed places. There are many people unwilling to work/own these places because of the danger. Most Indians (and a lot of these people are Pakistani) own the store AND work at it AND have their families work at them too. It saves them money. It's a good way to make money and these are in high demand.

Because they take advantage of the opportunities available here in the land of opportunity. They decide to open a business and the most available franchises are gas stations and convenience stores so the law of averages works in that favor. You might be surprised to see how many small businesses are owned by people who were not born here, Indian or otherwise. Most of those people who come here are from countries where a good work ethic is instilled in them so when they get here, they really excel.

Geopolitically Indians understand the problem that oil causes so when they come here and bring their wealth they also get great advantages for starting their own business. These business you mention like travel, consumer staples and gas will never fall by the wayside it is not in the consumer discretionary sphere. Therefore it is only pertinent that your going to start a business that you will be able to thrive in. Would you prefer that they make a dollshop and try to compete with Toys r us? This question is like saying why do people start profitable businesses?

sgt.rock is right. They are invading legally or my dad is that is ( Im Indian lol). And you left out the fact that we are also taking 25%
of Nasa and 35% of Mcrosoft and lots of the computer industry.
I can't beleive you. We just want to help your economy and
make America better with our computer skills and not sell
drugs and rape people and you people support the Mexicans
and think they deserve to get citizenship for breaking in while
we come in legally. Maybe thats why so many Indians are going back to help their own country which seems to be rising.
And one day Amaerica will relize that it was actually usefull
immigrants like us who deserve citizenship ( even if most Indians
in America earn more then $75,000) and not people like terrorists lol.

OK, basically your question means: why are so many Indians here.
They've been coming via Green Card lottery for many years. Now the INS doesn't let them participate in the lottery anymore, but the once who've been handed Green Cards have the right to pull all their relatives here. So there you go: Indians have 5-10 kids, they pull them here+ plus their parents+brothers+sisters...Millions of legal Indians.
Mexicans also were allowed to come via Lottery, but no more, so now they are forced to do it illlegally, since there is no legal way...

I don't think I see many illegals here from India. They are entirely too high profile to be illegals,I need to see facts on them all being illegal not just rhetoric.
No I'm not from India but I do like to see the truth when people make charges like that....I live in AZ I see the Hispanic illegals every day and I don't support any illegal so just give me facts. .

Because they are smart. What do people need? Gas, convenience, sleep, affordability, etc. You might want to think they are some lowely convenience store clerk, but have you seen the cars they drive? Your dumbass won't ever be able to afford one.
