I decided to sell my sentra cause I can,t afford the payments anymore. I owe $10,250.75 and it needs brakes and the bad news is the loan company still has the Title, other than,that its a perfect running car! 45,000mls

You can sell it even if its not paid off. Your best bet might be to trade it in for a car you can better afford.

You are more likely to get more money for it if you sell it outright, but that can be a hassle. Go to a dealership and find a cheaper car....they will give you a trade-in value. For example, if they give you $8k for it, they will roll the balance into the loan on a new car. However, I don't know of a car that is much cheaper than a Sentra, unless you find a used car or go with something like a Chevy Aveo. Good luck!

Tradng it in prob is not a good idea because your not going to get a fair market value for it when you trade it in and they will tack the difference between the payoff amount and the trade in value on to your new loan which will likely be more due to the higher interest rates.

Also consider bankruptcy? You can use that to re negoiate the loan on your car, and sometimes your only be responcible to pay back the total vaule of the car.
