Holmes - W 69 (KO's 43) TF 75 - W pct 92% - KO pct 57% - wins over Norton, Ali (Ali was washed-up), L. Spinks and Witherspoon - KO'ed by Tyson (Holmes was over 40 yrs) - #27 ranked fighter
Good chin/expert boxer
Fought past age 50 (ridiculous)

Bowe - W 42 (KO's 33) TF 44 - W pct 95% - KO's pct 75% - wins over Holyfield{2}, Dokes, P. Thomas and Biggs - KO'ed by none
Olympic Silver medal in 1988 at Super Hwy wt.
2 fights with Golota that Bowe won by DQ, he was behind on points.

In this fight which Bowe will show up against Holmes, the one who beat Holyfield or the one who was losing to Golota on points before winning by DQ. Either way Bowe loses - one way,a lop-sided unanimous decision by Holmes or a close split decision by Holmes.

Good question Brent F! Both fighters have great jabs but I believe that Holmes is the more complete overall ring technician. I believe in a 12 round fight that Holmes wins 8 rounds to Bowe's 4 rounds and wins the decision.

I'd presume we're talking about taking both men at the heights of their careers rather than Bowe in his late 30's and... Holmes at... what? About 127 now?

My money's on Holmes. The guy had a great jab that he would have stuck into the face of Bowe for 12 rounds. Bowe was never as good as the rest of the division was bad. Then again neither was Holmes.

Trick question here, since IMO Riddick Bowe's "prime" lasted for the 12 rounds of his first fight with Holyfield. After that I don't recall seeing him in an important fight in good condition. A lot of that blame has to fall on Rock Newman, arguably the worst manager of a heavyweight champion in history. Bowe seriously lacked dedication, and instead of getting good boxing people around him to keep him focused and disiplined Newman sent him on a goodwill tour of Africa or something like that. It's a shame, since Bowe had mad skills for his size.

But even if the same Bowe that entered the ring at Las Vegas' Thomas and Mack Center for the first Holyfield fight had faced Holmes, I'd give it to the "Eason Assassin"--one of the most underrated heavyweight champions of all time.

I'd say it'd depend on the day. I think if they fight 10 times, Holmes would win 7 or 8. Bowe has (had) all of the tools, he seemed so lazy and seemed like a quitter at times. I could tell you this though, it'd probably be a boring fight.

i think both these fighters are extremely overrated. yes, as someone pointed out, holmes had probably the best jab of all the heavyweights, but his jaw was made of thick glass(not brittle, but not all that strong). bowe had such great backing, w/the great eddie futch, but he never realized his true potential. he had three classic fights w/holyfield, but never really peaked other than w/these fights. he probably would've knocked holmes down once or twice, had they met, but then holmes would've just tee'd off on him and pounded out a unanimous decision. there would've been a handful of great exchanges - probably in the middle rounds - in an otherwise boring fight, w/both fighters trying to captilize on each other's weaknesses; but i see larry walking away w/this one, possibly even, by late round stoppage as he had more heart than bowe.

Larry Holmes would win hands down. The Easton Assassin piled up some pretty impressive numbers with his smooth boxing and underrated punching.
