They might get dehydrated. If you want them for weight loss they will NOT work. They will dehydrate you. You'll lose water weight, not real weight. Using them for weightloss is extremely dangerous.
And they don't exactly help when you're retaining water either. If you're retaining water, just drink more of it. It'll eventually pass. But you are probably not asking because of fluid retention.

The same thing that happens to women---you have to go to the bathroom quite a few times. All water pills do is help your body rid itself of excess water.

My doctor has prescribed them for me as part of blood pressure reduction program. They seem to help do that, although I do have to urinate more frequently (but it's not too bad).
