All right, first things first.

17 years old with parental consent, and you need Grade 12 for some trades, especially the high-tech ones.

To have a feel for military life before joining the military, you can go to the Cadets. Depending on hat interests you, there are Army, Air and Navy Cadets corps all over the country. For more information, you can go to www.cadets.ca

Also, if you want a position as an officer, it might be wise to wait a little longer than 17 years old and Grade 12. Officer entry programs are extremely competitive, and starting out now to get ready for it isn't a bad idea.

For joining as a Non-Commissioned Member, having a college diploma behind you that relates to the field you're applying for can get you a rather nice joining bonus as well, and almost guarantee you your Corporal's/Leading Seaman's right off of basic training.

But for everything, the military is very physically demanding, so you want to prepare yourself for that. Start going for runs (if you start at 1 kilometer and work up steadily, you'll be able to run marathons by the time you're ready to join) , long bike rides at speed, proper push-ups, sit-ups. All sorts of calisthenics, really.

In the US, if you're 18, you can do it on your own. However youwanted to know the youngest age,.. I think it's 17 with a parents' letter of consent.

If you're into it as you've said, join the JROTC program in your highschool like I did. Read about soldiering, courage and leadership. Get and stay in shape. But most of all, stay in school. You will be a better soldier if your well educated and guarantee yourself of something to fall back on if soldiering doesn't work out for you.

Being in the military is one of the best things i have ever done. The friends I made back in Basic are still there. If you have any more questions, I would be glad to answer them. Email me.

most likely 17.

if ur really into it, join the Boy Scouts. It was based off of the military, and if u find a GOOD troop, it should run like the military. The highest rank is Eagle Scout, and only 2% of all Boy Scouts in the WORLD get that rank. combine that with education from some military program (military school, ROTC, etc.) and you can not only get yourself distinguished as a great person with potential, but you can also get yourself accepted into the military as an officer. You might even get a scholarship to college!

Good luck, soldier!

not sure about canada. But in the us you have to be like 16 to sign up to join after high school.

If you are super serious about this you have to talk to your parents, there are some Military Schools that teach you all the stuff and help you get into the service as higher rank or even an officer.

From a Canadian Soldier 17 years old and currently you need your grade 11 too
Sorry Deuce no need grade 12 need 11 min now
Cadets are not a true reflection of the military, but if you want to visit them you can any time you want just to check them out
What part of the military you want to join depends on you.

14 years of service

in the U.S you have to be 18 to enlist in the military. you can actually join the delayed entry program earlier, i think at 16, but your parents have to sign for you and technically you arent really in the military until you are 18, its just a program where you can work with recruiters to get promoted before you even go to basic training.

You have a lot of growing up to do (mentally and physically) before you join the arm forces. This is not a game. Why don't you go be a kid before you become canon fodder!!!
