I think it is damn right rude when people do not say Please or thankyou, it is like good manners to tell someone thanyou or please, I mean it don't cost much just to say those words, lack of respect this world is coming to, I was brough up to say please, and thankyou, as it is very rude to receive something, and not say those magic words, as it lets that person know how much you appreciate them for what ever they have done, let's hope that more, and more people express those words rahter then to be on the take all the time!

Parents are afraid to discipline.
because back when i was younger kids werent just a check from a baby daddy.
Then parents actually taught their kids respect, and kids weren't just sitting in front of a tv playing playstation. Disrespect is everywhere, and there is no discipline on the parents part for fear of having their kids call social services.
If my kid needs to be spanked, he gets spanked. If he wants to call the cops on me I'd hand him the phone and dare him to. Im the kind of parent my parents were, and they didnt put up with the bullsh!t that kids pull now. If my kid threw a temper in a store, he'd get a swift slap in the back of the head for sure.
Needless to say, he doesnt do that.

If your parents started when you were young, all your manners should still be there. Thank you and please and yes Ma'am and no sir or vise versa will be taught in the home.I sure taught my child and she is almost 40 and she teaches her children. So, I believe that some folks just don't want to use them anymore. Some folks grow up mad at the world. And then some grow up proud of who they are and are SO happy to use what they were taught. But you are so correct. Bless you.

I always wondered the same thing...I hardly ever hear thank you's anymore also....Sometimes I feel weird saying 'please' and 'thank you' all the time when very few other people do....I think it's just society today, raising kids to have no manners....I mean I remember when I was a kid, I would get slapped if I didn't say thank you.....!

Manners are a lost art. I love to hear people say please and thank you and I do so as well. When I hear kids saying these things I always point out how great that is! We should model the behavior we value and hope that it rubs off! Thank you for your question and observation!

We live in a rude society, my 3 yr old nephew says pleas and thank you. Why? Because we have taught him to have manners. Parents are lazy manners don't matter to a parent that works 40 + hours a week. That's why we have Super Nanny. It is ridiculous

I am sorry but I disagree. I am from the old school and use the word a hundred times a day without exageration. I find out when I use it the ones around me use it too.

Very good point indeed ! The people are getting more and more egoist, selfish, self centred and that is the reason you don't hear them saying please !!. They use it in desperate situation because, it has to deal with their need or the situation. Self centred habit.

U are absolutely right. Being polite helps the world go around better. Also, holding a door open for an elderly person, or smiling at a waitress. Anything polite is better. Our society has become jaded with rap music and crime. Thanks.
