the word your looking for is chef, Gordon ramsey, Jamie Oliver. Ainsley Harriot, these are a few of my favourites. Yes i do think the British have the best chefs as we know how to cook real filling foods. Then if you look at the french cooking their type of food is gourmet, a la carte type you know a few bits of meat and then sauce not enough to fill a mouse. This is only my opinion

They may not be the best in the technical sense, but I think British chefs are definitely the most innovative for creating new dishes with imaginatively combined ingredients and creating new trends in cooking. Whereas the French, although they may be more technically proficient, tend to stick to a much more traditional repertoire. I think British chef Heston Blumenthal would be a good example of a current top chef whose style has been very influential in contemporary British cooking.

Suprisingly (to me) Australia is supposed to have some of the best new chefs around (according to my nephew who is a chef-in-training).
But in every country you will find a few chefs or cooks who are excellent and a lot who are below that. So no country has the best cooks in the world from an objective view point, it depends what you like to eat. Though India, Italy, China and Japan are highly rated.

Of course we do, have you seen the crap we have to work with. You try making it into something palatable. One innovative chef came up with egg and bacon ice cream and snail porridge. He got Michelin stars for that. The only stars I'd give for that would be the ones from banging my head on the toilet. But having said that, Nigel Slater is very good and his recipe books very useful to have in the kitchen.

i imagine so, chick peas are moist and garbanzo beans are the toasted or not moist version of chick peas. If i'm incorrect would lightning strike me down. I watch sufficient cooking shows to understand.

Britain does not have the best chefs - I think Canada does! Creative, colourful, good portion sizes, varieties of meats, veggies.
