Was your life in Danger? Were Civilian Lives in Danger?
Was it a Felony Crime?
How long have you been on duty?

The shift supervisor is notified. The scene is secured. He places his gun back in the holster after making it safe only, he doesn't reload or change the magazine. The gun is turned over to the shift supervisor or the investigator arriving on the scene. The incident report and statements are taken. The officer is placed on administrative leave while the case is investigated and until he is physically and mentally cleared to return to work.

In the UK a police officer is immediately subject to something called P.I.P. This stands for Post Incident Procedure. They are taken away from the scene and their welfare taken care of. Then when he or she is ready they will be asked to make a statement about the events.

I aint no cop.But I got to figure he needs some time off right away. Can you imagine what would be going through his or her mind. It's not to often around here that a cop has to shoot somebody.
I would think the officer would have to talk with his Sargent or another cop that has shot somebody.I dont think you are me or no psychiatrist could understand what the man is going through.
