they do best with the all natural peanut butter..no added sugar, and it is thinner, so easier to swallow..However, doxies gain weight so easily, that it should only be given in small amounts, so that they don't get too fat, which is hard on their spine..

In small amounts, peanut butter is a great, relatively healthy treat for dogs. Just don't give him too much or he'll get an upset stomach. To my knowledge, I can't think of any reason why dachshunds specifically can't have it.

Yes!!! They can eat peanut butter - haven't you ever seen peanut butter dog treats? In fact, the only way my dog will take her meds. is if it's covered in peanut butter! Of course, you shouldn't over do it - but they can have it.

I work in a vet clinic and we suggest to try peanut butter only if having to give medication. Other wise your dog should stay on a healthy dog food diet.

I would refrain due to the risk of food allergy. In humans, reactions to peanuts when allegic is a bad one and is often fatal. In nature, peanuts are not a normal food of canines and for that reason I wouldn't risk my pet's health.

Yes, a small amount in an appropriate sized Kong toy will entertain your pet for quite a while! Just be certain that it's not the crunchy variety so there's no choking hazard.

Yes. I give my dog his medicine with peanut butter (otherwise he spits it out!) and he loves it. Don't o.d. on it, but small portions should be fine. Maybe watch him/her after giving them some to see if they are ok if you are worried about allergies. Ultimately, if you are concerned perhaps phone your local vet, I'm sure they can advise you over the phone.
