I have a Great Dane dog (Rory) and he poops at awkward times and in inappropriate places. Once, he pooped just oustide the steps of a church and before I could pick it up, a bunch of people came storming out (it seems there was a small fire) and they all went sliding all over, a few face down in the excrement. Another time, I was "entertaining" a woman in my bedroom and Rory was standing near the bed. I'm not sure if he was rebuffed by my romantic gestures towards my lady friend, but he jumped on the bed and proceeded to poop all over us. It was so gross! Another time, he pooped just as some pallbearers were approaching carrying a casket. Needless to say, they slipped in the awful brown sludge and dropped the coffin. What do I do?

Sew his anus shut and open a hole from his intestines to the outside of his body. Attach a colostomy bag to hold his poo. It worked great on my ex-father-in-law when he had colon cancer and it will work great for Rory, too. Oh... to prevent his chewing on the incision and the poop bag, you'll have to put a cone on his head. He'll look like a funny little canine spaceman. Tee hee!

Gosh, what a crappy situation you and Rory are in! How old is Rory? I only ask thinking of that old saying about old dog, new tricks and all. The only practical solution that comes to mind would be doggy diapers. Maybe the embarrassment of having to wear them will shame Rory into better behavior. If not, then what's the big deal anyway? We all go through life up to our eyeballs in sh*it anyways! Trick to happiness is learning to keep your mouth shut! But then again, there are those out there who are more than willing to swallow just about anything!

what you need to do is house train you dog. make him live in a small area where if he poops he will have to be with it. also feed him in this area. i recommend the bath room or some place that has tile. take him out often till he builds up his ability to not go as often. then gradually as the accidents become few and farther inbetween make his area larger till he is once again free to roam at will. this will take time and even house broken dogs still have slip ups. for outside the house that is you fault for even walking a dog near that. me and my boxer always cross streets and make a couple turns to avoid the chance. she has only done it once and that was 4 years ago. but still to this day if i dont watch for her signs she can make a mess and it is not her fault but mine. hope the training helps. also remember positive feed back to the dog.

Sounds to me like Rory isn't the one who needs a lesson in manners. However, his master does. It isn't Rory that's inappropriate...it's YOU!
