so, i have a 8 month old pup who has crappy teeths. i was brushing them again today & noticed that his left top fang was extremely wobbily. now, if you have read my other Q's, you would know my dog lost his k9's & that his fangs are redish black in color and that i have boughten him tons of doggie helthy chew toys & feed him nutro. i also give him these doggy mint things & brush his teeth once a day. ive been doing this for 2 months, and the teeth? they have gotten worse- like i said, his fang is wobbaly. i guess the only good news is his right fangs arent as bad as they were. the bottom right is a little bluish black, but the top one is turning more of a yellow pearl white instead of the red orange. i called a vet 2 see what it would cost to get his teeth serviced & she was surprised i wanted to bring pup in about teeth problems(usually, dogs dont get to that point till 2 yrs) i then mentioned the red tooth & she freaked saying they needed to be pulled. so, should i save $ and do it??

no, i love my dog, he is literally my baby. it is just that so far in having him ive spent over thou on the little guy & my husband & i are still somewhat newlyweds living in my inlaws basement. lol, were so poor. yesterday alone we spent more than a quarter of our money on stupid bills for the business we have been trying to get to work for over a year. i know its serious, but the gal said it would cost somewhere between 200 & 500 to yank out them teeth. i am thinking why dont i do the yanking & then take him in to get a medicine for the infection. the tooth on the top left is basically dead already. my husband took away all of buddy's toys bc he was afraid that he would yank the tooth out by himself. where did this puppy get this? i dont get it, i shower the little guy once a week, take him for jogs and walks daily, feed him the best we can afford, buy him "dental approved" toys. i am with him almost 24/7. so whered he get this? please dont think i dont neglect my son. I love Buddy!

I work for a vet and I know first hand the dentistry for your pet can be very costly.
However if it was us or our children we wouldnt think twice about it right!?
Your dog feels pain just like we do, he's not able to say so and yes I agree with the vet you talked to 8 months is really young to have this kind of problem therefore having some bloodwork done to rule out any abnormals that may be the cause of this is not a bad idea either. If you are a good faithful client then your vet may be willing to work out a payment schedule.
This is for the best interest of your dog who is a part of the family not just a pet.
Once the dentistry is done and his mouth is healthy ask your vet what he recommends for a diet thats good for him and his teeth.
The clinic I work at we sell a brand called:
Hills Perscription Diet -T/D
they come in two sizes original and small bites. Depending on the size of your dog will depend on which on to get. Or
Medi-Cal brand Dental Formula
both good to use as there diet not just for a treat.

It could be a deeper problem than you may be aware of....save the money and take the dog to the vet...you might cause more of a problem like an infection if you pull it...and add on the the dogs gum problems....I'm assuming it's a gum problem that's effecting the teeth...

You should really take him to the vet. He could have some kind of gum infection that is making his teeth loose and he could get sick from it. It is probably painful too. I wouldn't risk doing it yourself because it could just cause more problems that will cost you more money.

A puppy that young with such serious dental issues needs to have a complete checkup. There could be an underlying cause. You definitely need to get him to a vet for care.

Get an old hessian sack, or in fact any old sack. Get the dog to grab one end while you hold onto the other. Have a mini tug-o-war with the dog, playfully and the puppy teeth that are loose will come out naturally. It is not cruel, it is not painful and it is quite natural for the dog...................

Take him to the vet. If you don't want to spend money on the dog, why do you have him? If it's that bad, find a home for him where he can get proper medical care.

be safe and save your money and have them checked...this sounds like it could be a more serious heath problem then it may appear now.
