Downtown Port-of-Spain is kinda nasty...if you plan to go shopping beyond Frederick St, then be prepared for crowds and the pervasive odour of urine. (Only the strong survive and get better deals!) POS is crowded with buildings, shoppers, vendors, vagrants and taxis. The city is laid out in a grid, so the streets are relatively easy to navigate on foot. (This is sounding a lot like New York, isn't it?)

"Uptown" POS is nice, I am thinking the Savannah and the Magnificent 7 (which could do with repairs). Open spaces, with cricket grounds and football (soccer) fields. Absolutely gorgeous when the poui trees and flamboyant trees are in bloom.

Kind of dirty and run down, not the ideal city in the Carib.

It's quite busy and it's not really well kept but nice for shopping.

Kind of dirty ... if only Trinis understood the value of not littering!
