I get heartburn whenever I eat certain foods. So far, I've been able to determine that broccoli and plums give me heartburn. Will my heartburn get worse if i continue to eat foods that give me heartburn?

Check this problem with your Dr. might be something else causing this & could be more serious.
Try tums or rolaids in the meantime to see if it brings any relief.
If it doesn't give you relief see your Dr. sooner than later.
27 isn't too young for anything these days.
Wish you well.

Not at all, age has very little to do with it.

Avoiding the foods that cause heartburn will help, but you should talk to your doctor. If your heartburn is more than occassional, you might have acid reflux disease and need a daily treatment

I get heartburn from everything, if your symptoms last longer than a week, you should see a doctor. Prilosec is a good medicine for heartburn it make it go away for a long time after you're done taking the 14 day tablets. hope you feel better!

Please see the webpages for more details on Heartburn, Heartburn prevention and Gastroesophageal reflux disease.
To prevent heartburn, avoid foods and beverages that may trigger your symptoms. If the heartburn is not controlled, Gastresophageal reflux disease or Peptic ulcer may occur. Consult your doctor.

No, I'm 27 and I have it. I would stay away from hot and spicy foods, coffee, chocolate, tomatoes, soda pop, and other trigger foods. Tums is good to take. Yes, this can get worse over time. If modifying your diet doesn't help, you can talk to your doctor about Previcid or something similar. My 18 month old takes it because he has it, too.

no because my older brother had heartburns when he was 20. It was because he had too much acid in his stomach from all of the orange juice and soda he had been drinking.

prilosec is great to use. its the same as nexium (the purple pill). if you ignore the heartburn, you could end up with barretts syndrome, which i have. you can also ask you doctor for a prescription call "zegerid", that works great.

No. I would talk to your doc though if you are having major problems with it. You might have acid reflux disease or it could be something even more serious like your gulbladder or a hianal hernia.
