I have an upcoming trip to Europe that's turning out to be very difficult to plan b/c of who I'm going with. It's making me think that a vacation by myself might be a good idea. At home, I already go to concerts and movies by myself when noone else is interested. What would a vacation alone be like? Did you enjoy it?

I have been to 49 states, most of Canada & into Mexico. Most of those trips have been alone. When I have traveled with someone, I always found problems........we don't want to do the same things, we have different views on where to go, etc. By all means go by yourself. It is much more of an adventure that way. You can come & go as you please & do exactly as you want. There are plenty of people that offer advice or chat with you when they find out you are visiting. GO FOR IT!! A great experience!

I've never taken a vacation by myself, but I have parted ways with the group I travel with to do some exploration on my own. I find that to be a lot of fun.

I don't know if I would go it alone in the States, but traveling alone in Europe sounds so much more fun. Why, I'm not sure. I've always wanted to backpack through Europe. Sounds like a lot of fun.

It just seems so much easier to travel alone. You only have to worry about one person...no waiting around for other people to arrive, no waiting on them if you're bored to tears at a certain museum or site, you only have to please one person: yourself.

Yes, I have gone on more than one vacation alone and just loved it. Eat when you want to eat, sleep when you want to sleep, the museums, the market, the pubs...all at your own pace. It is really quite nice not to have to coordinate according to someone else's schedule and desires. I sat in a pub in Norwich, England with a lovely, matronly lady from the country, 3 older folks from London and two college students all punked out. I did not lack company except when I so desired. I stayed in B&Bs, so could also seek out the company of the other residents in the TV lounge and would breakfast with them. It was really wonderful.

some of the Best times in my life have been on vacations, trips, journeys alone or doing things solo.
That sounds like a good idea, wish I could do it now.If you have the opportunity go for it, life gets complicated and you may never have such a chance again.

I do have been out on my own. Enjoyed it as I can do what I like without having to check with anyone! Allows me to do things others may not like, like exploring hidden corners, getting away from the mainstream route etc.

I backpacked across Ireland by myself for two months and I met the most interesting people - we still keep in contact today. I would definately recommend it.
