Unfortunately, I have not been able to find this year's figures. The Department of Justice only has figures posted up to 2004 at this time (see link below).

Oakland Police Dept CA: 74.7
San Francisco Police Dept CA: 71.3
and please don't ask me how you can shoot .7 people, I just don't know.
A report by Urban Strategies of Oakland, CA put out August 14, 2006, states that total homicides for Oakland from January through June are 67, but it does not say how many of these were gun related and how many were knife or other homicides.
And from the August 13 San Francisco Chronicle, I have the following quote:
"This year, San Francisco's homicide total, which has reached 61 killings, has surpassed Oakland's 50." Well, on double-checking, this quote is from 2004 -- oops!!

Probably not enough considering that the populace has effectively allowed itself to be disarmed.
For the stats, try the local PDs and / or the state Dep't. of Justice.
