Actually, a more precise answer would be. Mardi Gras Day is 46 days before Easter. And generally, the parades start two weeks prior to that.

Since the date changes every year, just look up Easter on the calendar and count back 6 weeks plus 4 days. That's Mardi Gras Day. But, you want to go back two weeks prior to that if you plan to attend the entire festival season. Oh, and Mardi Gras Day is always on a Tuesday.
