I'm for it because there is no "box" you can place every person and their situation in. The bottom line is no matter what WE think, an outsider looking into these women's lives, we will never be them, and as long as it's legal, they have the right to have an abortion.
That said, I will say this. I disagree with abortions after 16 weeks unless the child is endangering the mother's life. To me, that is so insane. I mean, they have plenty of time to contemplate the gravity of their situation before then.
I have had friends have abortions. Even one who had one at 17 weeks. I kept my mouth shut, and my opinions to myself and I was there for them all. I would not have one, because I first of all, am in control of my reproductive health, and I am very responsible. So is my husband. However, if a "surprise" baby ever happened, I'd have it and love it, but I'd opt for a tubal after that personally because I am happy with the two kids I have, and my husband is "fixed", lol. So if anything gets through, I'd be in a state of shock for a few days, but I'd get over it. We still do not have sex when I am ovulating, just as a precaution.
I don't think anyone has the right to decide this for anyone, and this discussion does get dowright stupid and immature. Basically, it all boils down to people not respecting others. God is the ultimate judge. I will say this, all my friends that had abortions confided in me that they regretted it in some way. But I NEVER made them feel bad before or after the fact. These are issues that that person has to live with, and they really deserve the support of a person who will listen with an open mind and a kind, non-judgemental heart.

I feel all women should have the choice to have an abortion or not as long as they aren't using it as a form of birth control. I have had one abortion and I made that choice because I can hardly afford to feed myself let alone a child!! The father all ready had a daughter, and I wasn't ready for that type of commitment. Now if I were to get pregnant today I wouldn't have another abortion cause one is enough. I know women who have had as many as four thats ridiculous and immature!! Maybe it is murder but I thought I did it for all the right reasons..I don't want to be selfish and bring a kid into this world who I can't even take care of and not let he/she have everything it needs!! I have no regrets..I have the right to decide because it is my body and aren't you the one who makes decisions for your kids anyways until they are 18, I know its not the same but it is in your body and isn't really a being yet. Also if you have an abortion after 2months then that is not right it has to be before or at 2months!!! I am so sick of people saying it is murder and no one should have them, then all these people will be on welfare and be poor and have way to many kids, also what if a women is rapped ?? You should have the choice no matter what!!.........and if they make it illegal people will do it anyways, so it will become more dangerous , people will do it themselves or underground, might as well be as safe as possible by keeping it legal.

I have a question for you....say your 13 yo daughter receives RAPED even per chance through a chum and turns into pregnant? Then what the hell do you do (this befell to my brilliant chum)?. if so, when you're raped through a stranger, and develop into pregnant...do you imagine you could develop the newborn as a loving figure and in no way harbor resentment in the direction of that child? i do not position self belief in abortion as 'birth control', yet I do sense that there are some issues which could be considered formerly every person is judged for having an abortion. To be honest, I had an appointment to have an abortion when I were given pregnant on the age of 18....my chum, who became also pregnant begged me to ensure her OB, after that exam there became no way i could do it, I now have a 16 yo. son who i could not imagine existence with out him. also, as a woman, I have the right to chosen what I do to MY body, not have somebody else, a guy no a lot less, make those judgements for me. i'd really have abortion be criminal than for a comfortable woman to finally end up hacked through some back alley butcher! This topic is like beating a useless horse, all of us have our own opinion and till both one persons is confronted with the region in my view, no you could make any judgement.

Abortion is a potentially volatile subject filled with many emotions. Emotions often can not be rationally explained by facts. I personally believe that life begins at the moment of conception. My belief is strongly grounded in my definition of what constitutes a baby. I have never asked a mom-to-be, "When is the fetus due?". To me, it is a baby, not a zygote or an embryo or a fetus. Perhaps if those words were part of my thinking, then my view of abortion would be different. I understand that abortion is legal and I know several women who have had abortions. I do not think badly of them, they were all in positions where they felt that was the best decision for them. I do, however, think that adoption is an option that is not promoted and accepted as much as it should be. I have several people close to me who have struggled with infertility issues and their arms and hearts ache for just one of those babies that is aborted every single day simply because he/she is an inconvenience to someone else. I know a woman who is the product of rape. Her mother tried to abort her, but the procedure wasn't successful. She is now grown to a wonderful adult who has made a positive difference in the world around her. In a perfect world, every baby would be a wanted baby, but we live in an imperfect world filled with imperfect people. We all make mistakes. However, a baby isn't a mistake, it is a human being and deserves to have rights as well. I do not believe in the death penalty. I do not agree with pro-life groups who murder abortion doctors or blow up clinics. I wouldn't classify them pro-lifers, I call them anti-abortionists. For me it comes down the the bottom line of my view on sanctity of life. I believe from the moment of conception until death that each human has the right to live to their fullest potential.

I would never get an abortion unless there was medical reasons for one.
I think the only time abortion should be an option is because of medical reasons or if the person was rapped and couldn't live with a constant reminder of what happened.
She could always have the child and then give it up for adoption though.
For the people that get pregnant and then realize they can't afford one or don't have time, ETC then they shouldn't be allowed to do it.
I mean come on if you can have sex then you should really be prepared for the consequences of it. If the condom breaks then you should NOT be allowed to have an abortion, but instead of you decide to not have the child then give it up for adoption.
If you are not financially set for a child then wear a condom, use birth control, use the pull out method, ETC. There are ways of preventing pregnancy.
No I'm not trying to decide for others about what they should and should not do, it's just my opinion on this.

personally I am pro choice, but I don't think that you should be able to just walk in to a clinic and get an abortion, there needs to be rules and regulations in place. Real reasons for having the abortion like a result of rape, a truely unplanned and unexpected pregnancy ex birth control is still not 100% there is still a chance, small but still there, or the condom broke. If you are taking precautions and really are not ready. I think that there should be a smaller window of oppertunity, 12 weeks is a long time if you think about it. A friend's ex-housemate said that going with a friend of hers to have an abortion done she waited the full 12 weeks before having it done and the friend saw the baby through the tube, mangled but still a baby. That is why I think 12 weeks is too long of a time to wait. I don't believe that it is murder, I think that women everywhere need to have the right to make that decision for themselves and I think the government needs to stop thinking that people of the free country need someone to make up their minds for them on such a life altering decision. It ticks me off when I see old men with plackards protesting abortions at a hospital. This hospital specifically does not preform abortions and never has, it is a children's hospital and says it right on the front. I think if you get pregnant because you were being careless or just plain stupid you should fall outside the limits of eligibility for an abortion, have your child and make arrangements before hand for a good family to adopt your baby. I am pro-choice and I plan to stay that way.

I think that you're perfectly welcome to have your view on abortion and that it's criminal to try to impose it on others. To think that your opinion of morality gives you caviat to start or stop a life with no understanding or control over it's conditions is abominable. Abortion should never be the decision of anyone but the couple who concieved the child as only they have the slightest gleaming of what the future holds for that baby.
We like to think that life is special and a miracle but we don't treat it that way. There is an economy to life and the more there is of anything in an economy the less it's worth is. America ended it's bloodiest chapter of violent crime exactly 18 years after the Roe V. Wade decision legalized abortion. We witnessed the gang violence and romance of Anachy that comes from unwanted children leading unwanted lives. The life you believe you're saving could easilly go on to take a life, ruin a life or simply live in misery. I'm sure some believe that the life of a murderer is better than no life at all (Unless you endorse the murder of abortion doctors ironically enough) but really you have no right to choose, you'll never live the life you doom someone to survive if they earen't aborted as a child. Odds are you'll never understand what it's like to be forced on parents who never wanted to be pregnant in the frist place.
I've heard more than one person try to tell me that Abortion is Murder. I don't really have no more proof that it's not than it is. But it's a hypocracy to rail against abortion but support a war where soldiers and civilians are murderred every day in numbers that far excede abortions or to support the murder of convicts who wait in line to be put to death. Those people are adults with a fully developed nervous system, with things they cherish and a fear of losing them. According the Doctors (The poeple who allow you to birth children that survive reliably) A human being cannot demonstrate self-awareness before 9 months and doesn't have the biology to feel pain before it's 3rd trimester. How can you claim to abhour murder when you defend someone who cannot understand they are alive and condemn someone who grieves and suffer before dying?

I am going to start aout bu saying that I am a 36 year old stay at home mom of three beautiful children. I am pro choice. I had an abortion on May 22, 1991. It was MY decision. I think about it once in a while but know I made the right choice for ME. I am also adopted and know that if Roe vs Wade had been a few years earlier I may not be here. I also made the choice to carry a child conceived during a rape. He is a gift. He is brilliant and wonderful. When I had him I was older and knew that he was wanted, even if conceived out of violence. Pro choice, it is an individuals choice...

I am against it. In my law class last year, we had to write a discussion on this and mine was two pages. I think it is murder as well. if someone kills a full grown person and goes to jail, why is it ok to kill a fetus? it hasn't the chance to even see the world. The fetus is alive since the moment of conception. the cells have been growing since then! i think the only exception for abortion is in a rape case. if unfoutunately the woman does get pregnant, she should be able to get an abortion. it would be a horrible memory to have a child with a man who raped you.

Personally, I am insulted every time I read "i think abortion is murder". Such talk is highly offensive and indicative of the low IQ of the user.
Most of what the pro life and anti abortion crowd says is untrue. There is nothing in the Bible that makes abortion wrong. In fact the Bible supports abortion as does Christ. God invented abortion in the form of miscarriage. And God is not a murderer. It is plain and simple fact that an almighty God is defined as having the power over life and death. Having such power, a God could be of two possible mindsets. God could be an evil hateful god that punishes women for having abortions. Or God could be a loving God that understands the problems of the humans he created. I choose to believe in a God that loves and understands and does not kill in abortion. My God, Christ, loves life so much and loves humans so much that he does not kill in abortion. My God suspends the life of the fetus and uses it another day. That is all a loving God could do. An evil God on the other hand could condem you to hell for any sin you commit. And you will commit a sin. So it is your choice which God you choose to believe in.
