Your problem is more than likely with the gas port, make sure that there isn't cosmoline or other crud covering the gas port.

Ejectors are on each side of the firing pin and they will wear out over time. The ejectors have a slot in them that snaps over the boat tail of the cartridge to pull it out after firing. The slot corners round off after a while and will not catch on the cartridge. Have a gunsmith change the extractors and it should work fine again and clean it as others have said. Good luck.

After a very good cleaning check the chamber to see that there is no rust or crud in it. examine a fired casing for scrapes and scrachs. these should tell you if the chamber is at fault. Give the exstracter a look over to see that it's not broken. more than likely one of these are the problem .

US M-1 carbines are not 'blow-back.' They use gas ports. It probably needs a deep cleaning. Have it checked out by a competent gunsmith.

I would try asking in the "Shooting" section of the website http://outdoorsbest.zeroforum.com/
There are a lot more gun nuts on there than here. I think there are a couple of gunsmiths that lurk the boards there too.
To be honest, I shoot guns but am pretty bad at fixing them

Sometimes the spring in the mag sticks or wears out so that it will not feed the next round. If the above suggestions don't work, check your mag.

First thing I would try is a very through cleaning. Make sure your gas port is clean, bolt, etc.
