Two years ago we bought a ranch and started getting into self suffiency.
We keep rabbits which were intended to be eaten.
The time has come for "Mr Nibbs" the big white one to bite the dust.
Should we keep them all as pets and go to the nearest super market (15 miles away) for some other meat or get the big axe from the barn?

Don't eat anything you have come face to face with personally, let alone something that has a name. Nibbypoo might be tasty but #123X out in the barn would be a better choice.

Besides, you made this decision two years ago, why put it up for discussion now, unless you are just in this for some kind of perverted thrill. Why don't you just ask us if we think you should kill it before you skin it?

Go stuff yourself, and let your rabbits eat you!!!

Rabbits used to be bred for food so I don't see why you shouldn't, if that's what you fancy for dinner, I personally prefer to keep rabbits as pets, which I do, and they are great little friends to me. An alternative could be,to grow and eat some veg instead, or go fishing in a nearby stream.

At two years old your bunny is a bit past it really, you'd have done better using him for breeding for a year then eating him. You'll never make a commercial success of your ranch unless you learn about farming, and stuff like feed:weight ratios.
Buy a book on rabbit breeding.

I don't like the way rabbit tastes. If I had second thoughts, I'd eat rice and beans, instead! Actually, Welsh Rarebit tastes better. It was a recipie created for hunters who came home without game. Yum!

Give 'em the axe... you got them to eat. Word of advice though...once you give food a name it usually becomes a pet. next time just stick to naming him rabbit #1

I agree with the others that if you are raising any animal for consumption, naming them makes it too personal. If you don't butcher the rabbit, you will end up with many, many, many pets.
