I disagree with Becky.. There is nothing wrong with scaring a ten year old into eating healthy.
If we taught our kids how to eat better, we'd have less health problems in the US and maybe lower healthcare because of it.

You have a good point. Their diet and plus the fact that they don't spend nearly as much time active as previous generations did (too busy with the internet, video games and all). And to the person that said that they weren't fat so they weren't bringing the life span down; Being thin and getting proper nutrition do not go hand in hand. Some people can maintain an average weight while still consuming empty calories from junk. If your diet isn't good being thin won't save you from high cholesterol or diabetes(or any other nutrition related disease).

Thanks for your concern for teen agers, but I think your message should be aimed at their parents.
Parents are the ones who direct their children's lifetime eating habits.
If you chastise a child for something their parents neglected to teach them, I'm not sure that you'll get your message across.
I see parents who would never in a million years suggest fruit for breakfast, it has to be some sort of grab and go pop tart garbage.
I never see parents offering their children water instead of soda or tthe sugar infested crap that gets marketed as juice. Never see parents who would offer their kids celery sticks in lieu of cookies. Kids are conditioned to turn their noses up at healthy foods. If it isn't french fries, potato chips, or sugar coated crap, they don't want it. It starts with their parents, who've been conditioned to believe that it is too difficult to prepare healthy alternatives for meals and snacks.
Thanks for the opportunity to vent. I'm disgusted by the parents who feed this garbage to their kids, purchase $100 worth of cable channels every month, and supplies endless inventories of video games, and wonder why their kids are fat.
And you're right, diabetes doesn't go away.

Quit the petroleum in your diet...that'll make a difference faster than cutting out sugar and fats. FD&C food colors, artificial flavors and sweetners, BHA, BHT, TBHQ. Do some reading on how they all alter your physiology. Your body can't work right when there is petroleum gunking up the works.

Good! Maybe natural selection will finally have a chance to go to work on the human race.
May be harsh, but it's true.
