if i am understanding you ..friends first is cool, then you can test someone without the pressure of a relationship, then if they pass the test, love can follow.

Are you talking about weather? As in sunshine and rain? Or whether love should grow out of friendship?
It's much easier to be friends first. It gives your relationship a better base and a chance to endure. The 'love at first sight' thing does happen, but doesn't always work out well because the couple often has too many differences and not enough similarities.

Close your eyes----in which way do you see the person of your liking. Is it like a friend or a lover? The first image that comes in mind is the right answer. Try it.
Therefore their is no set rule for this. What the heart speaks ,is the right answer.
