I never heard of anyone who "needed" veneers. Well, maybe we could stretch the point for some cases where they might be the best solution to a problem. Usually veneers are thought of as an elective procedure for cosmetic purposes and this is why 98% of dental insurance plans do not cover them.

If you said, "I don't like the way my teeth look. What can we do about it?" and the dentist said, "We can fix that with veneers," that's just fine. If you had no complaints and he said, "You NEED veneers on your teeth," ask why and what will happen if you do not get them.

Speculation........

I havent had it done but i used to be a dental assistant. Its not painful...they are just covers for the front surface of your teeth. He may use anesthesia...which may hurt...after all it is a needle in your gums...but after that you wont feel anything.
