I'm translating a dialogue, and this goes as a reply to the other character's phrase, ' What can I say? I usually get along pretty well with kids.'

There is an expression that goes "That makes two of us" which means that the two are the same.

"That makes one of us." is a play on that expression, meaning 'just you'. So the the second cahrachter is basically saying that he DID NOT get along with the kids the way the other charachter did.

Savvy?

The person responding is saying that he/she does not get along pretty well with kids unlike the other person.

Its kind of a take off the saying "That makes two of us" which means that you agree to the statement oringally said and you are the same way.

This is a mildly sarcastic phrase meaning either "You are the only one here who of whom that is true" or "That is not true of me".

That means that the person doesn't agree with what you are saying. Only one (you) believes it.
