I don't know about prices...but for our wedding, we did our own invitations - including addressing the envelopes and it was really easy and inexpensive - just if you are looking to save some money. I always thought that people just throw all that stuff out anyway so why bother to go all out....however, if you have the money or if you just want to - absolutely do it. We only had 150 guests so it didn't take that long....if you're having a ton more, it might be the best plan.

I'm not sure of the cost but you could call some of the vendors here for quotes.

You could also try to contact someone with Sea Scribes, Monterey Bay Calligraphy Guild. Meets the first Thursday of the month from 7-9 p.m. at the Sunset Center, Babcock Room, San Carlos and Ninth, Carmel. 372-6877.

It depends.
Some charge by the word, some by the page, some by the hour.
Call around and ask how they charge (find listing in the yellow pages) and ask about how much for 50 invitations with *x* number of words each. You should have a basic idea of what you want them to read.

If it's not in your price range you can do them yourself, or have them printed in calligraphy. It will give you the same general look without the price of the labor it takes to pen the words.

I wouldn't waste my time in a calligrapher. I would either hand right them or buy some labels (clear ones) from the store (general, like walmart) and print them off if you don't like your handwriting.

But if you insist on a calligrapher here are some websites to help get you started:

The second one looks really good. Good luck and congrats on your wedding!

I don't know how much it costs but since you only have 50 wedding invitations to address, it may be worth the cost. I thought of doing the same thing for my wedding but we had 250 invitations to address so I just took my own sweet time, bought a calligraphy pen and did it myself. Everyone assumed I had them professionally done.

My friend said she charges .75 to $5.00 a card. She said it depends upon how many you have, and how much you want on the card. Like if you just want the person you sending the invitation's name and address or if you that and your return address on the back of the invitation. Luckily, she did my daughter's as her gift to the couple. My daughter decided to give it a try, so her husband surprised with the pens and a book, and so she's practicing on her thank you cards....

Gloria, my friend, said if you have a art school or a college, you may can get a student to do them at reasonable cost. If you have a real good printer, you can also do them off a computer, my friend did hers and they were very nice...

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding, and I wish you and your groom many many years of happiness .......

God bless us all...............
