This is something that ONLY A VET can answer for you. You should never give human medication without consulting with your vet first. Most human medications are not safe for animal consumption. Also giving something like aspirin while your dog is on other medications can have a very bad reaction. YOU NEED TO CONSULT WITH A VET BEFORE GIVING ANY MEDICATION!! The only thing you should be doing right now, without talking to a vet, is keeping the dog confined (like you have been). Restricting her activity is a good start. Also, besides the other problems I mentioned with human mediation, if you give your dog a pain medication, then she may feel like there's nothing wrong & cause more injury to her leg by running around & playing. Keep her confined in a crate with some food & water & lots of soft blankets to lay on until you can get her to see a vet. Good luck! :)

Plain, white chaulky asprin is ok for dogs, but be careful not to give them too much... if your German Shepherd is around 50lbs then 1/2 of a regular asprin should be about right.

Do not give your dog human medications. Consult the vet for anti-inflammatory drugs. Yes I know that dogs have , upon ok from the vet been recommend baby aspirin, but each case is different. The pain me be arthritis or muscle pain or another cause. An exam is necessary to determine this. Aspirin may be doing more harm than good , daily use of aspirin can cause inability to clot, ulcers. So please ask the vet. And if given an RX did you know you can have it filled at your local pharmacy, check the pricing, it may be cheaper than having the vet fill it.

Here is a link that you can get asprin for pets, it is becoming more easily found and may even get it at local Vets offices or pet store like petsmarts. But I know this works:

DO NOT GIVE TYLENOL. It is lethal to dogs, even in small doses. Ask your vet if asprin is appropriate or if you should give another medication.

It sounds like your dog may have arthritis. I gave my dog condroiton (sp?) from the pet store. It takes about 2 weeks before you will see any difference in your dog's behavior. In 4 weeks my dog was jumping in and out of my Jeep with ease.

You need to ask your vet. I think aspirin is totally off limits for animals. Plus, animals due to their size will need a much lesser amount of any kind of meds than a human would. You need to talk to a vet.

If you do give any medication, consult a vet first, if that doesnt help, then break off a tiny piece and give it to your dog, medication might kill a dog if it is too much!
