When he bites grab his muzzle and tell him "no bite" in a stern voice but not yelling. Then give him something he can bite and praise him for chewing on that. You have to make sure he knows what he should and shouldn't chew on. At this point he doesn't know any better. But NEVER strike your dog. Especially in the face. this can make them head shy and aggressive. The best thing for a puppy is consistency so if you want to get rid of the biting you have to always tell him not to...not every so often when he does it. Good Luck!!!

He's a puppy. All puppies chew and nip, they are teething and their teeth are hurting so they chew on everything. Just start by saying "NO" in a firm voice, don't yell at him. And give him something he can have right away so he'll know whats ok to chew on and what's not ok.
When my dogs were going through this puppy biting stage this is what I did, and it works very well. Take an old cloth or dish rag and tie it in a knot. Then wet it and freeze it, give it to him when its frozen and he'll love it. I guess its supposed to feel good on their teeth. Trust me..it works!

He's teething... no way to really stop it. So no more of my shoes would get destroyed, I bought a Kong which is a dog toy found at any Pet Store. They're a little pricey but are backed with a lifetime guarantee. I used to put a couple dry treats inside of it then stuff the ends with peanut butter and it would keep my puppy busy forever. Good Luck!

Pups bite because they don't know any better. When he bites you, yelp and go still. This is how another pup would act, so this is what he should understand. After 10 seconds (provided he responded) go back to playing with him. If he is just wound up and won't stop, walk away from him or put him in another room for 30 seconds. He will soon learn that biting ends play time.

Puppies bite and chew all the time. I think Nova J has the right answer and you just have to know that it's normal and they do outgrow it eventually.

Ice cubes, ice cubes, ices cubes!!!
When my doodle was teething, an ice cube would amuse her for 1/2 an hour and sooth her need to chew on us. If you make the cubes with water and a bullion cube or a can of beef broth soup, they'll love them.
I've used this "trick" on several dogs and friends and family have also used it and it's been no-fail. :-)

Say in a firm Voice, "NO!" everytime, give him some toys. I find the beanie baby style toys or perfect and if they make noise,,, OH JOY!! Rag dolls also work nicely.
