Usually the shoes that your wear, flat shoes or cheap canvas sneaker without support are the worst. Your mattress could be another culprit. If you sit alot at work , in front of a computer for example , it could be your chair. If you have small children that you carry , try to stand straight when carrying them, instead of sway backed. These are the lesser of the evils. Other causes could be disk/pinced nerve problems, artiritis.

Hey doesn't have to twist, lift, or do anything to cause this. It could actually be a sprained muscle. This happens especially the older a person gets. If he sprained a muscle and causing that kind of pain it is most likely a sprain in an area that is able to push on nerves, and when it pushes on nerves it hurts like hell. Here is the puzzling thing, you said they did an mri and didn't see anything right? Did they perform blood work or anything to see if it's kidney stones? The reason I ask because that could be a good reason why he is having the pain he is having. Also if he did and nothing showed up and the pain continues to stay then good luck. He will have to end up having tests, injections, and lots of meds to take until it's controlled. I wouldn't rest at the mri if this continues for months.

It could be a rat gnawing. Did the pain seem more/less intense yesterday? If more, that would be indicative of a rat (Having eaten thru most nerves so they don't work today). Rats can be very dangerous! They aren't clean, they are born pregnant so soon there may be a whole flock of them, they often smell like sewage. Other people, not knowing you have rat, will assume that YOU smell like that and will begin to ostracise you.
You should definitely go some where and have it (them) taken care of.

Its a possibility that you either pinched a nerve down there or pulled your lower muscle...I had that happen to me years ago and it took me about a month and a half to get back to normal.
