my puppy purposely dumps his water bowl, then tries to drink from an empty bowl. Why does he do this?
Also, he eats the chickens poop? Do you think that is bad for him?
The chickens run around all day, there is really no way to stop him all the time from eating it. They also steal his puppy food. It is so nasty, but I can't go around cleaning the grass!

I have 50 acres of land, I am not going to pen or tie him up either. Will the poop hurt him? And how do I keep water in his bowl throughout the day while I am gone?

get a heavy water bowl that he can not dump over and when he figures out that he can not dump it you can switch back to the other one and as far as poop goes I have 350 acres and two inside dogs who stay in the barn with me when I am in their and they eat cow poop, horse poop, and chicken poop and besides their breath they are great

I don't know how big your puppy is but we have one of those refilling water dishes...it looks like a mini water cooler and when the bowl is empty it fills up again from this source. Also, I don't know if the puppy would be able to tip over his dish with the tank on it. I think he does it because it's fun, and he's being a weird little puppy.

If the chickens are healthy I wouldn't think that he would be harmed. But maybe there is something in the poop, like a nutrient, that he's lacking in his diet. Make sure he's on a very balanced diet - dogs are omnivores like us, so he shouldn't be denied meat, veggies or carbs.

I hope he's doing better!

if he has a crate then get a dog water bottle like what hamsters have, but they are bigger
maybe fence the chicken in like set up chicken wire around an area
the poop might be harmful to the dog-i know rabbits poop is.

All dogs like other animals poop. But try getting a automatic waterer. It's like a 2 liter but turned upside down. Check out your local pet store
