A tool for manipulation and gain of power and wealth? I think so. Not everyone involved is that way, but those are the ones to change the current trend of guilt and shame.

Yes, just as working a job is a tool if you want to get money to pay for you and maybe your family living you must work. If you want your family to grow with morals then you use some form of religion that will teach what you want them to know and most religion teach the ten commandments and that's find by me so that we can live together on this planet

Religion is a powerful tool, Iran used it as a tool of tyranny, against opression...i would say it can be used as a powerful tool to bring about positive change...and to be used as peace tool you would have thought.

Religion is a tool to enhance faith. Religion is really just a set of actions and techniques for learning and celebrating a particular faith.
Faith is not a tool. We all have faith in something. I have found faith in God and Jesus Christ. He oiffered my grace that I didn't deserve.
