My daughter is now 3. As an infant, I was not a member of a church and found is not right to just take her to only get baptized. Now I want to & am a member of a parish.

There is no age limit whatsoever. Every year we have many adults baptized at the Easter Vigil Mass.

You were correct that it was not really appropriate to have a child baptized if neither of the parents is a practicing Catholic. The Sacrament of Baptism places a responsibility on the parents to raise the child in the Catholic faith. I have known some priest refuse to baptizre a child because neither of the parents were practicing Catholics and really had no intention of raising the child in the Catholic faith.

No there is no age limit. Not all Catholic children are Baptized as infants. Many are Baptized much later. If you wait long enough your child will have to go through RCIA and then Baptism, Confirmation, and First Communion on the same day. That is not until later years however, say 8 or 9?

--is Catholic--

If the child is below the age of reason, then the parents have the right and the obligation of their Catholic Faith to have their children baptized. This is your situation so go and have your daughter baptized and raise her in the Catholic Faith.

If your daughter was above the age of reason, typically some sort of instruction and willing desire on the part of the baptized is required.

Good for you for being Catholic. It is a wonderful thing. God bless.

There is no age limit and the sooner you baptize your child the better. The Church does set a limit at the age of reason, so that is why it is better now than later, if later the child has to go through the rights of initiation courses.
God bless you and your child always.

No.

There is no lower or upper age limit for Baptism in the Catholic Church.

Contact the Baptism coordinator at your parish and explain your situation.

Welcome to you and your daughter.

With love in Christ.

there is no age limit. I've seen adults get baptized, communion and confirmation all at once, because growing up they felt that they were not ready. Good luck and god bless you and your daughter

Mark 16:16 "Whoever believes and is babtized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemed" NIV
So to be babtized you have to be old enough to believe. Is an infant old enough to believe and understand what Jesus did for us?
