i have brown hair and it is kind of short i would like to put hightlights but i would like them home made?

I would not do it at home!!! I am a hair stylist and even I have screwd it up when a friend of mine insisted on me using a box kit especially with short hair you will end up with big leopard spots by your scalp... It is cheaper to have it done the right way to begin with than having to have it fixed later on!!!

If you want to have red highlights you can try this recipe.

Red Hair Color Enhancer
Ingredients
1/2 cup beet juice
1/2 cup carrot juice
Directions
Mix ingredients together, pour over clean, damp hair. Wrap head in plastic and apply hot towel, medium dryer heat, or sit in the sun for one hour. Shampoo.

If you want to bring out your natural brown highlights you can also try this.

Natural Brunette Hair Dye
Ingredients
Triple strength black coffee
Directions
Shampoo hair. Place a large bowl in sink and rinse hair with cooled coffee. Repeat several times, reusing the coffee. Leave final rinse in hair for at least 15 minutes. Rinse with clear water.

whatever color you try to put on your hair make sure it does not say "ASH" in it. like ash blonde or ash brown cause it will turn you brown to orange. the best way to highlight brown hair is to pull it thru a cap, then add osme bleach to it, wait about 20-25 mins, wash out. Then go back and add color of your chocie. good luck

oh no! don't do it at home trust me. go to a professional. think of it this way would u rather not spend money trying to put highlights at home and mess it up and then go to a professional and pay more so he can reverse the damage
