a blackhead is accumulated dirt in large pores which eventually turn black and looks awful, u can steam and scrub them out or u can use a special bleach cream which is designed just for faces and they completely dissappear with this for eg JOLEN, after bleaching apply a little bit of skin polish or scrub with v fine granules they all come out with this trick or BAKING soda works wonders, in the palm of ur hand apply equal amounts of baking soda and water and apply to the affected areas it loosens them up BIG TIME and its cheap, personally I prefer the bleach cream method keep it away from FACIAL HAIR THOUGH!! or strips they work as well too but not as effective on all skin types thye may work for me but not 4 sum1 else

It's like a spot, under the skin and it's dark. Instead of the whitehead's yellow bit popping out, blackheds are dark bits that kinda 'pop-in'. Go on a search engine's images, ie google or yahoo and type in blackheads. There are quite a few pictures there. They're not pretty.
There are treatments that can 'cure' blackheads and they come in a range of prices. I believe there's a clearasil range out especially for blackheads. I have a few blackheads and they appear just on the side of my nose. Where i CAN'T get rid of them. It's so annoying.
There's also a sort of gun thing, especially for removing blackheads because they are SO HARD to get rid of. Grr.

blackhead
BLACKHEAD [blackhead] yellowish or blackish plug of material accumulated in the duct of a sebaceous gland. The material consists of keratin (horny cells of the epidermis) and modified sebum (oily secretions of the sebaceous gland). Blackheads are the primary lesions in acne . Treatment is the same as for acne, with frequent cleansing of the skin followed by the application of astringent solutions. Plugs should be extracted only by a physician, since damage to the surrounding tissues occasioned by squeezing often leads to scarring.

I had loads of blackheads and they are basically dirt clogged in your pores. I went for a facial and she took them ALL out. Or you can try taking them out yourself. But I definintly suggest a facial.
