If you are talking about simply copying DVD's then Nero, or Roxio, or Sonic are fine. One of them probably came with your DVD burner or computer.

You will also need software to decrypt the DVD and shrink it down to size if you are using 4.7GB disks.

Use the links below to do some reading and to download all the free software you need.

Please note that in most areas, copying commercial DVD's may be considered illegal. Do so at your own risk.

Now, if you are talking about taking existing video footage (like form a camcorder) and making your own DVD, that is something entirely different.

For that you need a good movie editing program. In the PC world, Pinnacle Premiere is considered one of the best. It is also very expensive. For Macs, you can do this easily in iMovie.

WinDVD Creator is decent too, and there are bunches of other programs out there that will do a decent job of it. Links below will get you more info as well.

Myself, I use Nero for everything. It has a basic DVD creation program, as well as a decent program to shrink DVD's. It is pretty simple to use and gives very good results.
