First, check the calories and, the fat calories. Say there are 110 calories in all and, 50 fat calories, this means that 50/110 of the calories are fat calories or about 45% of the food is fat, usually make a limit like, I will not eat foods with 20% or more calories from fat then, say when comparing with cereals look for foods with more fiber and, healthy minerals, proteins, etc. Plus, another thing to remember is that usually under the third bar, there is a variety of nutrients that are needed in a healthy diet and the percentages by it stand for, how much of your daily value of that certain food you are getting. Another thing so, you don't get to much extra stuff look out for how much your serving yourself, for exmp. in most cases let's say for cereal, people give them more than enough like instead of one cup, maybe 2cups. So, hopefully that will help you in the future.

In general, whole foods are the best for you. Foods that have labels are not. Try and eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

You dont. You use common sense. Labels are overrated and ridiculously hard to understand. Do what your momma told you to do , " eat your greens and meats, stay away from junk food and soda pop"
