Doing something wrong or just being stupid or was it something else ??

I did...I was driving home one Sunday evening from Phoenix to Tucson on the 10 freeway and I was looking down for literally two seconds to fast forward a song or look at my speedo etc. When I looked back up there was this lady directly in front of my car. The next thing I remember my windshield shatters, glass everywhere. I slammed on my brakes and pulled over to the side of the road and ran back to where I had hit her.
Unbeknownst to me, there was a police officer right there and saw the whole thing. He was there because there was reports of a lady trying to jump infront of cars and trucks. He tried to grab her but she ran on the freeway and ran perfectly infront of my car just as I was looking down. Also note, that I was going the speed limit at about 75 mph.
The officer was really nice and drove his car around as I ran back. He turned me around and told me that I didn't want to go there. He told me he saw the whole thing and there was nothing I could have done. He said I probably didn't even have time to take my foot off the gas (which I realized that he was right).
What got even worse is that they had no idea who she was for like four days...no ID, no car, nothing. They found her through her fingerprints. She was 28 years old, two kids and in the middle of a divorce. They also found a drug pipe near where she landed. Hopefully she didn't feel a thing. She apparently had a criminal record of some kind, though I still feel really bad about this happening.
I still find glass every once in a while in my car from that. You'd be surprised how much damage something like this can cause.
Make sure you are always paying attention when you are driving at a high speed...even if you are doing the speed limit. My family and friends were very supportive and told me there was nothing I could have done differently and to not feel like it was my fault.

I never killed anyone, but I killed my sister's pet rabbit when I was 3, not knowing any better.

No, but, I died myself, once, accidentally, and it sucked. Luckily, they realized it was an accident and they gave me another chance. I wouldn't reccommend dying to anyone. It sucks.
