That depends on what you want. The F-22 is a dedicated air supieriority plane (it kills other planes) and that's it (but it's really good at it). America is rich, so it can get another plane to do another job if needed. The Typhoon can do that job, but also others (like recon, small bombing runs, wild weasel attacks, etc) but it dosen't do air superitority as well as the F-22. But the Europeans aren't as rich, so they need to have a plane that can do many jobs.

Oh dear oh dear, so many people on here who have no idea of what they're talking about.......
Better pilots?! On what basis is that justified? Any evidence to support that claim?? How many British have pilots shot at US armed forces personnel in joint operations...???
Better weapons?! So I'm assuming that some of the replies here are from experts in both US & UK armament technology? Pure rubbish - the UK & US use a lot of common ordnance, with neither being more technologically advanced than the other in that respect.
And another point - nothing is "perfectly" stealthy on radar - unless its not there! There are methods of detecting stealthy aircraft, although it does give an advantage. Oh, and the Typhoon does in fact have certain stealth characteristics (of which I shall not discuss in a public forum) - albeit not to the same extent as the Raptor.
Back to answering the actual question - which is better? In all honesty - the Raptor has the POTENTIAL to be a more effective air-superiority fighter - and it should be since it costs 3x as much per unit! But I dont see a queue of buyers for it - and I'm not surprised when you can have 3 Typhoons for every Raptor!
However it is way behind the Typhoon in maturity and reliablility - it cant exactly dominate the sky if it breaks down on the runway.... The Typhoon (which incidentally does have supersbsonic cruise capability) - also has Short Take-Off & Landing capacity which makes it adaptable for ship-board roles - thus making it more flexible.
To be honest - nobody will really know which is the "better" aircraft until they are tested against each other.

The F-22 Raptor is better because it has better stealth. A Eurofighter Typhoon doesn't stand a chance because of the Raptor's weapons.

Depends - the F22 is probably the better fighter, but also costs a LOT more for each plane then the Eurofighter...
To be Honest the Eurofighter has more in common with the F16 in terms of role then with the F22 (which is more of an F15 replacement) - a more interesting comparison would be with the new F35 JSF

F-22 hands down is the better aircraft! It will shoot a Typhoon out of the sky before it even knows it's in trouble.
As to export sales(Ouseman): The US does not allow the sale of certain high-value technology like stealth aircraft, so the sale of the Raptor to anyone else, even it's allies is forbidden by law! Japan and the UK would love to be allowed to buy the F-22, but they just can't!

In a recent article in Combat Aircraft magazine about the Typhoon entering service in Italy, the following statement was made, "....it is certain that the Typhoon will not have comparable adversaries, if the F-22 is excluded."

The Raptor.
Subsonic speed cruise
Mach 3 supersonic cruise
stealth technology means we won't need as many, not many are expected to get shot down.
The Typhoon?
2 afterburning standard block pratt & whitney engines
The aircraft flies about Mach 2.2 (fastest)
but it cannot maintain that speed for very long.
It does not have any stealth technology whatsoever:
This means it's survival is dependant on good pilots, and poor enemy SAM sites, a combination that is hard to get. Which means that one of them will get shot down for every six missions flown. Only one pilot in six will not come home. Not comforting if you are going up in one, huh?
Whereas the Raptor's ratio is much better: Only one Raptor out of every one-hundred missions flown will get shot down- (because of stealth technology.) So if I had to choose, given the odds: I'd always pick the Raptor, and so would my Dad. He is a United States Air Force Brigadier General. Thank you.

I have flown both aircraft, and I can attest to the fact that the F-22 Raptor is better. Good ole Made-in-Georgia-USA technology, to put it bluntly.
