OK I SAID MUSLIMS ONLY! that's a good thing to seperate girls and boys keeps them from lustful thoughts. and it is in Islam coz it's what God wants! what bout how the puritans seperated girls and boys or how they have private all girl schools? that's segregation too.

No one forces anyone to enroll their children in public school. Here we have charter schools, online schools, private schools, religious schools, There are schools just for girls and also only for boys. The parents have the responsibility to make sure their needs are met. Isn't it good that we have all these different choices to help out all the different types of people that live in this country? I am sure that the children are respected and treated fairly in most cases. You really should do a little research on American school options before you assume such things.

Just another little note. My children are in public school and they have the opportunity to meet people from different relgions. HOw do you expect people to learn about Islam or any other religion or culture if they are not exposed to it?

Even in the Islamic school in our area the girls and boys are together. Education is valued in Islam and if it is the purpose of males and females being combined there should not be a problem , but might promote a better view of islam after all of the nonmuslims see we are normal too.
I want my children to go to public school to view the world as it is, if not when they become adults they may have a problem adjusting .

OK OK OK OK calm down..ahah...im a muslim and there is nothing wrong with having your children in boy-girl classes...even the islamic schools don't seperate the classes into boys and girls...so its ok that your kids are going into mixed classes. if their faith is strong enough than they shouldnt have lustful thoughts.

I agree with REZ...How on earth is it America's fault??????? They CHOOSE to live in this country....IF they don't like it then they can take advantage of the MANY choices in education we have today. Homeschool, private school or start a muslim school.

My mom's Muslim, and she never cared about it. I don't think they really did that in Indonesia, so she never had that bias.
EDIT: Some retarded answers here. Do they realize that Catholic Schools also segregate boys and girls?

Pfft. If you are against desegregation (both racially and gender-based), then please start up a private Muslim school. Religion is not apart of the public schools in America. Everyone is mixed together to not only teach them academics....but to teach them tolerance, diversity, and acceptance....IE>>>>FREEDOM!

they are not forced! if you dont want them to go to a unisex school you can always enroll then in a muslim school!!! there are muslim schools in the US.
so it's really up to the parents not the government's fault. also there are christian schools who do the same thing.
