"Molokai Nui a Hina" (Great Molokai, Child of Hina)
"Molokai Pule Oo" (Molokai of the Powerful Prayer--Molokai sorcerers of old could pray you to death)
"The Friendly Isle"
"The Most Hawaiian Island"
"Molokai: Hawaiian By Nature"
"Molokai No Ka Heke" (Molokai Mo' Bettah)
Great controversy rages over whether there should be an 'okina or not (Molokai vs. Moloka'i), even amongst the people on the island itself. _Place Names of Hawaii_ (Pukui, et. al.) lists it with the 'okina. Others argue the name includes the word "kai", meaning "sea" (within the reef).

Moloka'i is referred to as the FRIENDLY ISLE..
Gorgeous Island I love visiting my family there because I can get away from the hustle and bustle that is on O'ahu.

The Island of Moloka'i is just 20 minutes from Honolulu Hawaii, but a world away in terms of tempo and lifestyle. Moloka'i is home of the ' Hula ' - heartbeat of the Hawaiian culture. ... isn't a stop light on the island.
