I don't think there is a conspiracy to target blacks and minorities.

Unfortunately, it does seem to be MOSTLY but not all blacks that are dealing in drugs. I know there are also white drug dealers out there and you can be sure they are also being targeted in the "war on drugs".

However, whenever I watch the news and they are talking about drug busts, it seems, more often then not, that the ones dealing the drugs are black people who are on welfare. It seems to be a quick and easy way to make money.

I am not saying there aren't white people in the same situation but they don't seem to get caught as often.

I abhor ALL drug dealers regardless of race or ethnicity and I believe they should all be jailed.

No, but I think your question is legitimate, because it naturally targets them. The war on drugs has affected minorities because of the violence level it has created; a culture that is dangerous and attractive to minors. Unfortunately, there are not many fathers in areas where drugs run rampant, most likely due to their own drug habits and inability to face responsibilities. This creates a vicious circle that has made more fatherless families with even less role models. A single mother cannot possibly maintain a household in a drug-infested community, and the police riding around in a tank, or dressed in black uniforms with M-16 rifles will not solve the problem either.

Unfortunately, drugs will have to naturally run its course dry, and the people have to ban together in the communities to stop the drugs. A giant corrupt government only will create more violence.

I don't think it was INTENDED to be a war on minorities, but I think it largely HAS incarcerated a lot of minorities because the poverty rates would seem to dictate that more minorities than whites would be more desperate to break out of that cycle.

The War on Drugs was always an ill-conceived notion, in that it targets a mind-set. If we were serious about it, we would've fire-bombed the cocaine plantations of Columbia and Venezuela years ago.
Rather, the War on Drugs should target WHY people choose to use drugs. And it should provide easily accessible treatment for those who are addicted.

I think War on drugs is not an excuse for targeting blacks or minorities. there are many blacks and minorities very professional, very smart, genius and successful. also there are many white or others are involved and under war too.
Drugs operations are going in many countries all over the world as well the ware on drug is. The fact is that people who are involved mostly black or form minorities who don't have real education or real chance to make money for living from good job. It is an accumulation from difficult circumstances that led some to be involved. why they are there? They are victims to sequences form their life environment suffering from many blocks limited them from getting the fair chances to work to get a chance to live better life. these are not excuses but just to find out the facts.

Its war on drugs not war on blacks. Unfortunately the majority of the people arrested are black, some are white. Its just the luck of the draw or thats just all the tv shows. I think war on drugs is a failure cause its arrests some and then you hear more kids taking/buying drugs. So its a 1 step forward then 2 steps back. The "war on crap" might work in some areas good, but in Baton Rouge & N.O. all you hear on the news is someone killed a guy over drugs or drive by killings over.....drugs.....

Police are doing there job no doubt. Its just getting to be a major problem.

When asking this question a person needs to specify which drug and when used by what age group. Tommy Chong has not hurt our country or gunned down children. A meth user ran down people on the Las Vegas strip because (he claimed) they were devils. So the "war" is a good thing so long as the bad drug is the target of the war. don't worry, Meth people will soon out number an individual race as "the prison people"

I am not a racist person, but am a realistic person. I think a white person will act black if he is raised in a ghetto and on the other hand a black person will act teh same as a white if raised in a nice areal . Subsequently, how one behaves in life or the career pattern they choose has NOTHING to do with color but with their upbringing. It just so happens that the larger percentage of black people will use drugs and set bad examples for their children.
Black people tend to complain a lot adn say they dont havea good job because they are black ...That is BS!...Black people get jobs easier nowadays because of all the discrimination lawsuits and equal rights. Yes , us white people WERE devils to black people by enslaving you over 100 years ago, but comeon, that was soooooooooooo long ago. We all love each other now.
Even some of my black friends agreen with this.
The war on drugs is actually one of the few things I think our government does right. It doesnt stop the addicts, but it hopefully will scare the youth of the nation. Or maybe, just maybe AMERICAN SHOULD MAKE A REAL PRISON! THAT PEOPLE WOULD BE AFRAID OF ...no basketball, tvs, soft cots....so maybe it is our goverment......

I can't say it's an attack on minorities, but I can say it's unfortunate that a lot of minorities are frequently arrested and jailed because they were found to b in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia...The only way to really truly get drugs off the streets would b to go to where they are made and manufactured, which would b impossible..Therefore it's alot easier for law enforcement to arrest the "lil guy", meanin the small time drug dealers and users, than those who actually make the drugs and ship them all over the world to b sold...

Not at all. If anyone gets caught selling illegal drugs, (most of which are detrimental to society), they are punished, regardless of race. Would you consider arresting a terrorist as just an excuse to target Muslims? We have an over crowded prison system, and in fact too many criminals are let back into the public because of this problem, so why would there be a conspiracy to lock away more people?

Good question..All I know is it is not a real war on drugs..Making possession a minor offense will never do it..If you really want to do something put serious jail time on possession...Minorities tend to sell the most drugs so obviously get caught the most.. I do know the government targeted blacks back in the 60's but not sure today
