An AMEX black card, aka as "The Centurion" is yet another unnecessary status symbol created by AMEX to separate the haves from the have nots. The issuer (AMEX) gets to charge a whole lot more for the "privilege" of whipping out a black piece of plastic from your wallet. The issuee gets to feel oh so important because they can pull out a piece of plastic which not many others have. However, as those who have one are usuually out shopping or dining where most others who are shopping and dining have one also, the exclusivity may take a nose dive!
The true richest of the rich (monetarily speaking) carry no money, nor plastic of any colour. They do not need to. Now that is exclusivity, lol!!
It is not just a person's level of income which makes them elligible to receive a black card. To be granted a black or a platinum card, one must first be invited. There are actuallly peeps with beaucoup money, who can't buy themselves a card of any colour!!

along with all the other stuff, the AMEX Black card comes with personal Concierge Services, and some other perks. The concierge service will get you anything you want, basically at anytime as long as you put it on your AMEX

you cannot apply for this card. Amex sends out invitations to rich people (greater than $100 million net worth). 99.9% of us won't get one.

Its an American Express card with no limit. The owner can charge as much as they want. Definitely for the super rich.

JK. It is a very exclusive card reserved for only the richest among us. People like Jessica Simpson, Bill Gates, and Tom Cruise have them.
