Lady fingers(finger shaped,light,crispy,bisquit) are just an ingredient in Tiramisu........

Mario Batali's Tiramisu

Ingredients;

STRONG ESPRESSO, 4 ounces (or substitute 2 teaspoons instant coffee in 1/2 cup water)
ITALIAN BRANDY, 2 ounces
EGG YOLKS, 4
SUGAR, 2 tablespoons
EGG WHITES, 2
MASCARPONE CHEESE, 2 cups (may substitute ricotta or cream cheese)
SAVOIARDI(lady fingers), 30 small, or 15 broken in half
BITTERSWEET CHOCOLATE, 3 ounces, broken into 1/4-inch pieces
MILK CHOCOLATE, 3 ounces, shaved or grated
WINE GOBLETS, 6 large

Directions;

Mix coffee and brandy together and set aside.
Over a double boiler, beat egg yolks and sugar until mixture lightens in color and forms ribbons (i.e. halfway to zabaglione). Allow to cool 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, beat egg whites to stiff peaks.
Fold mascarpone into egg yolk mixture one quarter at a time.
Fold mascarpone mixture into egg whites and set aside.
Lay savoiardi along edges of wine goblets all the way to the bottom, lining the entire glass (while keeping 6 savoiardi for later use).
Using a pastry brush, and paint the cookies with the espresso/brandy mixture.
Fill each goblet one-third full with mascarpone mixture and sprinkle with broken chocolate.
Lay one savoiardi across center and paint with coffee mixture.
Fill each goblet with remaining mascarpone mixture, topping each with shaved chocolate.
Lay one savoiardi in each goblet and paint with espresso mixture.

I made this and my husband & I absolutely loved it !!!
*You can also make the dessert in a 8x12 or 9x13 Glass/Pyrex pan ...BUT we prefer Batali's version !!!

If It Was Tiramisu And They Called It Lady Fingers Then It's NOT TIRAMISU And Contrary To What The Person Above Said, The Biscuits Are NOT Called Lady Fingers.

They Are Called "Savoiardi" Biscuits In Every Language. You Can't Just Go Calling An Ingredient Buy Another Name because You Don't Have The Linguistic Skills To Pronounce A Name Correctly.

If Your Not Using "SAVOIARDI" Biscuits, Then It's NOT Tiramisu.

As To The "Lady Fingers" Recipe, Sorry I Never Heard Of It.

Tiramisù can be made with different kinds of biscuits, Lady Fingers (Savoiardi, in Italian) are the classical ones used.
Tiramisù is an easy dessert to prepare (and my overall fave). If you can find Mascarpone (a kind of creamy cheese) where you come from, then it'll be easy for you to make Tiramisù, because you'll only need Lady Fingers, Eggs, Mascarpone and Sugar to make it. And Chocolate Powder on top. And Coffee (you may add Milk to it if you don't like a too strong taste), to soak the Savoiardi in it.
Some people add Rhum to the Cream of the Tiramisù, and that's a variant, other people don't use it.

Lady fingers are the base component of Tiramisu - The lady fingers are soaked in espresso and then a marscapone (sp?) cheese is made into a creamy topping, the whole thing is chilled and the top is sprinkled with cocoa powder.

You can find pre-made lady fingers at larger grocery stores.

lady fingers are in tiramisu, but they are not tiramisu. lady fingers are a kind of delicate cookie that is used in one of the layers to make the dessert. you can probably find a package of lady fingers a local upscale food market or get a recipe to make them online.
