ok, yesterday I got pissed and ranted after I kept getting told I was going to hell because I don't believe in Jesus, now I'm being told I'm a whacko because I have spiritual beliefs!

WHY DO SOME ATHIESTS TRY TO TELL ME THAT I SHOULD ACCEPT THEIR EXPERIENCES OVER MY OWN? THAT IS COMPLETELY ILLOGICAL!! ARE THEY TOO SCARED TO ADMIT THAT THERE JUST MIGHT BE SOMETHING GREATER THAN YOURSELF OR YOUR PRECIOUS SCIENCE?

please note that I said some athiests, and that I am not a Christian. I am an eclectic whose beliefs fall closest to Paganism and Wicca.

I don't tell anybody that they have to believe they way I do, but I don't like being told either that I am going to hell or that I am a nut that belongs in the mental ward. I wouldn't expect you to believe in the spiritual if you have never experienced it, but I have.

By telling me that I am crazy you are shoving your beliefs down my throat just as much as those who tell me I'm going to hell!

What do you all think?

should have read "are they too scared to admit that there might be something greater than themselves . . ."

I am right there with you...I am a spiritual person who is not a Christian, and I constantly get told, read your Bible, get in church, and know God because you are going to hell...Now, the funny thing is, that I observe the spiritual teachings of Christ.

Pertaining to atheists, I really admire their knowledge and view of the universe. It is inspiring to me, and once again, I am right there with you....I don't think I can tell them of the amazing things that have happened to me or I will get called stupid or crazy. It really hurts my feelings and I have to let go of that pain or it will turn to anger.....

One of my favorite characters in any film is John Coffee in the Green Mile.....He would take people's pain/sickness and release it in the form of flies into oblivion.....I try to do that same thing spiritually with people's anger....I am practicing the skill, and I have a long way to go to be effective.

It is a very lonely path and thank God that I have my husband who is my soul-mate to share this journey with me. Hopefully you have found peace with others who can relate to your experiences.

Hon, I understand your frustration because those people grate on my nerves a great deal (not because of what they say, but because of the hypocrisy that their words are swimming in). But really, calm down. They aren't worth getting worked up over. If they can't look into the mirror and see that they're being just as bad as the fanatics who tell us we're going to Hell for not believing as they do by telling us that we're nutcases for being spiritually-inclined that's their problem, not ours. And let's face it...rants like this tend to go in one ear and out the other when it comes to people like that.

Just take a deep breath, relax, and move on with life. Life is too short to get upset over what a bunch of strangers on the Internet say.

Methinks thou doest protest too much. I don't think you are crazy, but I do believe you are confused. And what do you care what other people think if you are as confident with your spirituality as you say you are. I read this junk every day about God is a fantasy and all this is not real and my answer is this: If I am right and they are wrong, when I die I go to Heaven. If they are right and I am wrong, when I die, I die.and that is the end of it. Which choice makes more sense?

You're right. I'm a kooky Zen-Buddhist-Chrisitan-Taoist. Can you imagine how much Chrisitians whine about me?

Christians are convinced they have a monopoly on God and heaven.

They will be surprised to see Buddhists, Hindus, Atheists, Taoists, and even people like Adolf Hitler walking around their heaven.

We are all part of God. We came here to learn, grow, and evolve. When we are finished, we go back to our source, which is heaven.
It is our home.

This life is only illusion or maya. It is nothing more than a theme park to visit (again and again).

Do catapillars tell each other, "You can't be a butterfly?"

i agree.

i am jewish, and one thing stressed heavily in judasim is to not go out and convert the world. we don't try to convince others that we're right. we keep to ourselves, as we would like everyone else to do as well.
