I'm 16. Used to be a vegan but that put people out a bit cause they didn't know what they could cook for me when I was out at other people's houses. I've been vegetarian for ages, it's good. first of all if you want to become a vegetarian you have to have a good reason not like I want to save the whales man or i just don't like chicken or I think I'm fat. Cause that annoys the crap out of people. If you're really considering it, learn how to spell it. Soooooooo many people spell it wrong here. VEGETARIAN!!!! No worries, not too hot with the spelling myself.
I haven't really ever been big into meat eating ever. In fact the only meat i've EVER eaten is chicken and fish. I became vegetarian 2 years ago.
The advantages i know of are you'll lower your cholesterol. but who cares about that when you're fifteen?
Meat deposits in your colon, vegetarians have healthier you know... poohs.
A vegetarian diet is relatively low in fat if you don't over burden your system with dairy products.
You don't kill animals.
Experiement in other forms of proteins that meat eaters do not know exist.
Vegetarians are generally healthier and lighter than meat eaters, well the ones I know are. I am anyway.
Vegetarians have a lower risk of heart attacks.
DISADVANTAGES-
People may call you a hippy.
People may force you to eat meat.
People may keep asking you about the life of a non meat eater.

Restaurants usually cater for vegetarians so no need to worry.
Make sure you know the difference between vegans and vegetarians. Vegans eat nuts pulses , grains, fruits and veg. Vegans eat nothing from animals including dairy, eggs, poulrty, game and meat. Vegetarians do not eat meat but they eat eggs and dairy, although some do not eat dairy but eat eggs and some eat fish. But generally vegetarians do not eat meat.
Vegetarians have to be careful to eat a sufficient amount of protein to stay healthy. protein rich foods are chickpeas, lentils, other beans, nuts, egg, quinoa, veggie burgers and tofu and miso.
Also if you are totally against the use of animals in anything you should not use make up with animal products or animal tested. Or you should not wear leather or suede.

The word is vegetarian or vegan (long e). A vegetarian is a person who does not eat meal or any kind. A lacto-vegatarian is a person who does eat dairy products.

Before you decide to become a vegan, think about your favorite foods and would you really want to give them up. That includes pizza

You will have to have some form of protein so if you don't eat dairy products or meat (chicken, pork, turkey, beef), you will need to find a substitute like tofo or soy milk/cheese.

Start by stop eating any form of beef. That means hamburgers, ribs, roast, steak, etc. So what are you going to have when you go to McDee's or Wendy's.

I am not against people who chose to become a vegetarian, but be educated in the nutritional needs of your body to stay healthy. Your body is at the major time of growth so it is VERY important you have good nutrition.

You may want to go talk to your home education teacher. She may be able to help you learn about vegan diets. And, Google vegetarian diets and you will see all the changes in your "lifestyle" by limiting what you eat.

Good luck

You first need to consider your motivation for becoming vegetarian (ethical, health, etc.)
Many people are not constitutionally suited for vegetarianism.
Some can be vegetarian and maintain health.

If you are serious about vegetarianism I would start by cutting back on red meat, then poultry, then fish.
If you want to be vegan you will need to cut out dairy and eggs too. If not, eggs are a great source of protein and B12.
You will need to replace the lost protein so eat lots of whole grains (brown rice, oatmeal, millet, quinoa, etc.) and legumes (beans). You will need to start cooking. Soups and pilafs are the best for this. Buy a vegetarian cookbook to help you experiment. Nuts are also a good source of protein. You will need to take Vitamin B12 and essential fatty acids (like flax seed oil).
Eat lots of lightly steamed vegetables of various colors and fresh fruits to round off your nutrition.

Being vegetarian isn't just avoiding meat. It is also avoiding junk food like potato chips, snack cakes, and processed food in general.
Listen to your body, and good luck

Hello, I'm a vegetarian and it is the only way to go. You need to get your nutrition from the source where all living things get their nutrition, mainly greens. Cows get their protein from plants the same as every other living thing up the food chain. When you are vegetarian you bypass the growth hormones, antibiotics, pesticides ecetera that is given to these poor torchered animals people eat.

okey, since I live in Palestine - Gaza, I can give you most accurate information. 1- Hamas is an Islamic movementary. 2- Hamas is not against jewism or jewish people 3- Hamas is against anybody who hearts palestinians. 4- Hamas is fighting Israel because Israelis (zions) took our country Palestine, so its not a Hamas-Jewism conflict, its a Hamas-Israel conflict. 5- Hamas Is not against any religion, and they have good relations with the christians living in Gaza. 6- Hamas hasn`t got a top person or a president, when they want to take a dicision, they have a group of people that are choosen to do this (to take dicisions), so dicisions aren`t taken by one person, its taken by these people (who are for sure highly selected, this means, not any person can be in a place to participate in taking a deicision! only suitable people can do so). 7- Hamas wants all of palestine, jews can live among us, just like they used to live among us before the Israelis came. anymore information just ask, please ask specific questions, becuase there is alots to say about Hamas. okey, lemme add some more information you may need: 8- Now Hamas has been elected in the 2005 elections, and they won by a percentage of more than 70% in a TOTALLY democratic elections. However, none is recognizing Hamas to be the representator of the Palestinian government, why? because Israel wants so. 9- Hamas is totally not like el Qa`ida or Taleban. Hamas respects all religions and everyone. They don`t believe in killing any innocent people. Sometimes you see people bombing themselves, that was only in Israel, which is the country that have been found on our country, and the reason these people were sent to Israel is because they had no other way to stop the Israelis from attacking the palestinian children and women and just everything palestinian. This means, some people had to sacrifice and spend there souls in order to stop the Israelis from attacking innocent palestinians and so, moreover these Israelis that were killed are living in our country palestine, and they just dont want to leave, so they are all against us, they should live in an another place other than palestine. and I will give you and example to imagine this: When American threw the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, didn`t they kill thousands of innocent people? another example: If russia took a state from the united states of America, what do you expect the americans to do? fight them, right? and sure fighting include "killing", because those are considered Invaders, and land stealers, and killers and blah blah blah. Now Hamas has """"relatively"""" greater power, and thats why barely hear of these people going and bombing themselves in Israel. by the way, Israel is now trying to make Hamas look as if its a very great power, and that is because they want to use more brutal bombs and make more brutal attacks on Gaza.

It's spelled Vegetarian. I suggest doing some online research and getting a book geared towards teens and vegetarianism.

Why am I not surprised that someone stupid wants to become a vegan.

Probably has some political agenda, or says things like "I don't want to eat anything that has a face"

The pro's to a vegan/veggie lifestyle are that you can usually have a lower fat, high fiber diet.

You have to add things like tofu (which by itself, tastes just like eating dirt) to get your protein.

Non meat eaters have a lower amount of muscle mass because of the reduced protein intakes.

Low muscle = weakness = potential for complications later in life.

The best advice I can give is to please learn how to spell, or at least use a simple spell-checker! I can't even remember the last time I saw a word that had been butchered this badly! It's almost like you had to go out of your way to spell it so WRONG -- you even added letters! *chuckle*

"Vegetarian" is the word.

There are no downs to it. All are ups, in fact it is better if you start early in life. Your health is the reason and continued good health is the reason why.
