When I eat dairy I have bad bloating and gas, and I heard that lactaid pills help with that, but I also get VERY bad constipation with dairy and sometimes my skin breaks out. Will lactaid help with the constipation it causes as well? I'm guessing it won't help with the acne.

Probably not the acne, but it should help your digestive problems.

First of all, you need to get to a specialist and get tested for allergies. That's how I found out for sure I had lactose intolerance (it's different than an allergy). I would have the stomach upset, then get really painful cramps about six hours after eating dairy, and have really bad runs. The lactaid pills work really well - you have to do some fiddling with dosage to find out how many to take, what works for you and what foods. Even though they are expensive, they do go on sale once in a while. They work very well for me - I can plan to eat lasagne, pizza, etc. with my family instead of having to eat something different. The only thing you really have to watch out for is when you go out to eat --- try keep some in your purse. SO many times, I have been caught out without my pills, and then had an urge for pizza or something and can't do it. Also, don't try to "fool" your body by just trying a "little" of something - you learn pretty quick what you can and can't get away with.

Lactaid pills contain lactase, the enzyme that is missing or in short supply in lactose-intolerant people. So it should resolve any lactose-related problems. Of course, if you're also sensitive to some *other* component of milk it will not help that.

Yes Lactiad does work for lactose intolerance. I have to use them myself. It will releive the bloating, gas, consiaption, and any other symptoms that affect your digestive tract, but not the acne. That may have another cause.
