I mean, the CURRENT bible is the King James II bible.
Pretty presumtious to do don't you think, the bible doesn't NEED to change with times because its apparently THE WORD OF GOD, i.e FINAL.

So some Human stands up and says 'What GOD MEANT TO SAY WAS...'

"Christianity has a built-in defense system: Anything that questions a belief, no matter how logical the argument is, is the work of Satan by the very fact that it makes you question a belief. It's a very interesting defense mechanism, and the only way to get by it is to take massive amounts of mushrooms, sit in a field and just go, 'Show me.'

The whole image is that eternal suffering awaits anyone who questions God's infinite love. That's the message we're brought up with, isn't it? Believe or die! 'Thank you, forgiving Lord, for all those options.'

Excellent question, and I totally agree with you. The Bible is trash.

The Bible is the biggest load of garbage and codswallop ever written by man, and I’m sure it will go down in history as the greatest load of gobbledygook ever to inflict such traumatic mental and physical damage on humanity, but still today, some people sadly believe the Bible to be true. That’s very sad indeed. Very sad.

When people quote various passages from the Bible, for example ...

Mathew 5:29-30 God encouraged self-mutilation.
Isaiah 13:15-18 God allowed women raped and little children slaughtered.
Genesis 6:11-17 and 7:11-24 God is the greatest mass murder in history.

What happens? Religious people pop up from under every stone with the same old garbage. “That was the old Bible, or we’ve changed the meaning, or wrong interpretation, or we’ve changed the context, or the quotes are out of context or or or, excuse after excuse.”

The fact is, they are Bible quotes, and the Bible is full of evil atrocities which religious people continually cover up, yet seem happy to drum into the minds of gullible little children. This is such a shameful disgrace in a civilised world.

If religious people are unable to apply commonsense and logic to develop a simple moral code to live by, then perhaps they could strip out of the Bible the evil, murders, rapes, abuse, and all traumatic references. Granted there will not be a lot left to read, but at least religious people may end up with a decent moral code to follow based on good, and not scare the living daylights out of innocent little children.

King James who????

The Bible was NOT originally written in English. Many have under taken the difficult task of translating the Bible into English and other languages. Truth is translatable but the best understanding is gained from the original language.

As for the defense system, I'd like to hear such a "logical" argument. No doubt whatever it is, it was dealt with previously. See sites like http://www.carm.org for great answers.

Oh, and taking drugs destroys the temple of the Holy Spirit, which Christians are not allowed to do (1 Corinthians 6:19). So that explanation is out.

LoL, I had to laugh a some of the postings, they really did tickle me!!

A point regarding the language. We all know that initially it was written in Arameic, Greek and Hebrew, the language used at that time, really if people were that interested in reading the original text, then they would learn Arameic/Greek/Hebrew would they not? I find the argument for not reading the original text to be somewhat lazy as for Muslims, it is part of their upbringing to learn to read and write in Arabic. Now before someone spews out that Muslims come from the middle east, they dont. Just like Christians they are worldwide and natively speak in many languages. What unites them is the simple fact that they STUDY the original text and language to get the meaning that was intended. OK, some people mis-interperate the meaning but thats just human nature. So in essance the ligitimacy of the lauguage argument is just poppycock and pure and utter lazyness.

As for your question, the KJV in itself was propogated through political manovers to unify a single reference or Bible for the church and the people. Many inaccuracies were made during its translation from the original greek and hebrew texts into psudo-english and has since been revised to allow for changes in the development of modern english, therfore its entirely as a true word of god is completely absurd and inaccurate. The KJV is by no means the inspirational words of god but more so the inspirational words of a politial situation to define the religion. However those that take the care and willingness to research the origins can ultimately make the connection that it is not the indesputed words of God.

Why has man changed from using a horse, to the tractor?
Why has man started to use the Internet instead of posting mail?
Why is there new words being added to the dictionary?
Why is there so many different languages in the world?
Why has man instead of travelling by horse and cart, now got cars, bikes, air planes, etc.

So we thank god for blessing our scientists.
But yet i detect ignorance towards us with faith.
Jesus said" I will make fishers of men"
It did not mean that Jesus would change the disciples into different beings:
It meant that he would direct their hunting instincts into a higher channel.
Its also in the bible that he gave us different languages, so please read the bible and absorb it correctly. I cant speak Greek or Hebrew, but from what i have read of the bible. It adds up mate.
Its like any relationship. The more you put into it, the more you get out of it. If at any bit you are reading it and don't understand or think it is wrong, then that's when you ask God through prayer.

Yes the Bible is the exact word of God, and you're only trying to find the truth, so God Bless You, as I try and help you with your question.

You can question anything and everything in this life, but when you receive the Holy Spirit into your life, Jesus explains every word to you, references were made to help people who were easily confused. You see the Bible, King James 1st by the way, and all other versions were interpretated to make or help people to understand the message of the Bible. Now if you were not to change the writing, the meaning is always the same, or change the translation or not of the original books of the Bible, how could you make out what it is telling us.

By the way, someone who answered this question, I would just like to say, I speak Greek. And guess what, the Bible says the same in Greek as it does in English, Spanish, French, shall I go on......?

Now getting back to what the question is. Oh Yes! The Bible is the 100% Word Of God. The Apostles like Peter and Paul were filled with the Holy Spirit and Jesus guided them in what to write down for the benefit of all men and women. The trouble is some people prefer the Good News Bible, why? because it reads like a book and is easier to understand. Some people prefer the King James 1st (VI of Scotland) version of the Bible, because they like the way certain verses sound, in thee and thou language. So no man has ever stood up and said "What God meant to say is" unless they were Non-Chtistians.

Once you have that personal relationship with Jesus Christ and ask Him into your life, the Bible will be understood to you and by you, God will reveal all He has told us in His Word, and Jesus is coming again soon, so I wouldn't put it of. You see, the things that are happening in the world today were all prophesied in the Bible by the Prophets and by Our Saviour Jesus Christ. You don't need to question the Bible just accept what God is telling YOU! Because it's your personal relationship with Him that counts. He loves you and wants to Save you from a Christless eternity in Hell.

I have served in the Armed Forces, I've been in life or death situations and I would not be alive today if God and His Word were not real. I have seen atheists turn to God when trying to disprove the Bible and become Born-Again-Christians, well so-called atheists, because there is no such thing really, everyone in a near death situation turns to God, I been there, seen then and got the T-shirt, you know what I mean. Science is full of "might haves and could be's" the Bible is full of Facts, God Said.......! And it was Done as he said.

So forget the point scorers who don't know God and slipping in there answers. Just seek the Lord sincerely and you will find Him and all will be Revealed to you, trust me, I really do know.......!

Also there are plenty of Christian Websites and Helplines to help you.

First, the scriptures are the "Inspired" word, not the "Exact" word. 2 Tim 3:16-17 is a reference point for the claim of the holiness of the scriptures according to one of the authors.

Second, human language changes and therefore if we are going to read and understand the bible as a population oin the whole, then it needs to be translated to our contemporary language.

Third, if you object to the changes and want the original, why don't you just go and learn the original language and then read the manuscripts? Or is it possible that your question is only disguised as a question of scholarship, but really is just an assault against a belief system that you don't understand and therefore hate?

Do you know that the Bible does not claim to be the "Word of God?" Nowhere does the Bible claim to be the Word of God, much less 'the EXACT word of God,' as you say.

It was the Catholic Church who declared that the Bible, all 73 Books, was the Written Word of God. The Word of God, according to the Gospel of St. John, is Jesus. Which is why the Catholic Church declared that the Holy Bible was the Written Word of God.

Ms. Thurson, do the math, the Catholic Church gave birth to the Bible setting the Canon of the Bible at seven-three Books. How many Books does your Bible have? I'll bet it is only 66 Books. Now who left Books out of the Bible? I'll give you one clue, "It wasn't the Catholic Church."

Study your history.

By the way Banderes, the King James version of the Bible WAS written in English.

"Why did man change it?" Simply, to understand it better.

If you spoke only English, and I handed you a Spanish copy, would it do you much good? Would you be able to read it? No.

The Bible has been translated from Greek, Hebrew, etc. into English and many other languages so people could read it and understand it.

Now, once a Bible has been translated into a language, same language translators should be very careful about thinking they know the word of God better than a word for word translation from language to language.

To translate God's word is different than to attempt to interpret and reword it.

Obviously anyone who thinks that any book is the exact literal word of God is insane. Your comment is true, there are many different Bibles with different adjectives etc. There is the Childrens Bible which explains things differently than the King James Version. There is the fact that some Gospels were LEFT OUT of many bibles. Would anyone say that the local telephone directory is the literal list of all phone numbers? NO because many people have unlisted numbers and many list under false names! Enough said.

Do you have copies of the unique Bible that announces that alcohol grow to be ever forbidden? pupils have dug up very historic copies of the Bible and in comparison them with present day manuscripts, and located purely minor adjustments in grammar and/or spelling. The Muslims declare that the Bible has been altered, however the data shows in any different case. besides, if the Bible fairly is the be responsive to Allah, then why grow to be Allah so vulnerable that he ought to no longer stay away from it from being replaced? The Bible that grow to be attainable on the time of the Qu'ran is the Bible we've got, and the Qu'ran says it is the be responsive to Allah and his be conscious can no longer get replaced. So, the two the Qu'ran is incorrect, in any different case the Muslims lie with regard to the Bible being replaced.
