It's the 3 digits on the back of your credit card. It's a security feature so that people who steal your credit card number can't use it for online purchases because they won't know the CID number.

The 3 digit code that is used primartily for internet purchases. If someone steals your main number of the front of the card they can't use it for online purchases unless they have the 3 digit code off the back. This is why many scams ask for this as well in phony credit card scams
