Why do organizations always say they are trying to raise awareness of these 2 diseases? If you watch TV, you would think that these are the only 2 diseases that exist. Have people really not heard of these, before? Is Breast cancer the most lethal disease on earth?

Breast cancer is the biggest killer for women and women of all ages should know about it. It used to be only women over 50 were at risk, now women in their 30's and younger get it. People still believe that HIV won't happen to them and it is spreading faster and faster. Education is the only way to stop HIV.

doctors now know that by the time a woman reaches 85 she has a 1 in 8 chance of developing a breast tumor. White women have a higher risk for develping breast cancer than women of other races. But regardless of ethnic group the risk increases with age. The point of the commercial is to make women more aware....you would be surprised at how any women do not have regular mammograms. The earlier they detect the tumor the easier and more likely it will be cured. Basically the commercials serve as a reminderto get a check up. With AIDS..I don't know about you but i know plenty of people that still do not use condoms. It is never a bad thing to try to get people to use protection. AIDS is becoming an epidemic. Many people are being careless and that includes people that already have it. They are sleeping with other people that have it and creating a super virus that is resistant to all medications that are available right now. So...organizations are trying to raise awareness because there are a lot of irresponsible people out there....and everyday teenagers are starting to have sex....most parents do not talk to there children about safe sex...so at least these organizations are trying.....and cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in women... ie...heart attack, stroke, heart disease and they also have commercials for that. because if just one woman decides..."i;m going to get a check up"...then taht womans life could be saved.

not necessarily the most lethal diseases, but two of the most preventable through education, hence t.v. is potentially a good preventative for both. women need to know how to check themselves for breast cancer, and that they should get mammograms. all people need to know how to prevent aids. you would think everyone would know by now, but as this site proves, the level of ignorance in the world is mind numbing.
